Eh?
-
The OP wasn't giving criticism of the forum, he was giving his opinion of the other site facilities.

Thing is John when I've reported it in the past, I've received the answer that it's in context or only in a mild form so it'll be left as it is. Using wildcard characters to replace expletives is against the CoC but it's been ignored many times since the changeover.

Oh dear, what will that pompous ass PDR do with his time now he hasn't got his acolytes hanging on every word he posts? The OP wasn't criticising the forum, he was giving his opinion on the website in general and as a first time poster with a fresh view on it all I think it's hard to disagree with the points he's raised. It may be that the focus is mainly on the forum now at the expense of other content or that MTM has just dropped the ball on the rest of it?

Page 33 may give some direction?

Whitchurch models closing on 29th may.
Phil McCavity replied to Paul Marsh's topic in All Things Model Flying
Best give up and move on as well then.....or start using more UK online stores. Things have changed, you said your man "wanted" to close and move on, that's different from 'having' to close. I wish him the best of luck but it doesn't mean the hobby is dead.... it's just changing. -
IMO (that's my caveat) yes at this level. Pattern 3d ships and big scale models with a good pilot at competition level will benefit from the extra torque, speed and precision but not so much at club flying Wot4 level. By all means buy them if you're feeling flush but for what you need it is unesessary expense.

Futaba 3003 or 3001 would be more than adequate and reliable. The 3001 are more expensive because they are ball raced whereas the 3003 are not. You'll need 5 in total: 2 for ailerons, 1 for elevator, 1 for rudder and 1 for throttle which can be a smaller type such as 9g if you prefer. Please make sure you buy from a reputable retailer and not an unknown quantity on eBay to ensure they are genuine. The market is awash with fakes.

Free glass coffee table on the marketplace.....anyone interested? ?

Eneloop Tx packs are available but make sure you buy from a reputable trader such as Nexus, T9 and Overlander so as not to get ripped off with fakes.

I know LiPOs are all the rage and NiMH are considered old hat but have you thought about using them instead? You already have the charger and there's no worrying about leaving the pack in the Tx when charging no putting them on storage charge. no balancing and no need to keep them company whilst charging.

There have been a zillion debates about this since the banning of lead in the UK and the impression we get is given the choice, electronics manufacturers and those in the trade would go back to using and selling lead if the law allowed it so as you are asking a simple question my simple answer is lead with rosin flux. Failing that you have no choice but to use lead free solder.

RC IC Engines, you've probably never heard of.
Phil McCavity replied to Paul Marsh's topic in IC Engines
I've just bought a model with an engine from a company called "Royal", apparently a Taiwanese copy of a Thunder Tiger? -
Nobody has mentioned the ISDT chargers? They seem well specced, reasonably priced and recommended by popular YouTubers and other forums.

The often forgotten member of the momentous Apollo 11 mission, we all remember Armstrong and Aldrin but rarely Collins. His photography during the mission is iconic.

SMC
Phil McCavity replied to Robin Mosedale 1's topic in R/C Retailers / Distributors / Manufacturers
There's a sound reason why SMC have been in business all this time and have weathered the various storms over their time. -
Personally, I'd stick with the Oz per min as recommended because I like the idea of basing the capacity on an engine running at WOT so when flying in real time there is always a reserve if you use the calculated figure.

Keep the ancient castor oil fuel for cleaning engine parts and cases, you know then that you have a solvent that will clean without attacking and degrading anything it shouldn't.

I've used Brown Gorilla glue to repair damaged foam and a lightweight filler such as One Strike/Red Devil or car body filler for body repairs depending on the material and severity. One Strike Red Devil This one for ABS, GRP and flexible plastic.
