  1. Internet being troublesome, post above was posted ages ago I thought. IC glow engine similar to RC cars ( 2t ) but with less of a finned cylinder head, and use less nitro fuels. There are 4t engines also There are compression ignition types ( diesel ) but fuel is expensive, but engines more fuel economical. There are even petrol fueled engines these days. And "jet" engines.
  2. National trust site so slope soarer friendly...seen very fuzzy picture, looks good. Anyways back to powered planes....
  3. May I ask, did you get the bundle with propulsion/servo package and radio link radio gear hooch ?
  4. National trust site so slope soarer friendly...seen very fuzzy picture, looks good. Anyways back to powered planes....
  5. Internet playing up...look on "outerzone", search " centennial found". Easy to make wing ( use spruce spars ) which is extendable and can be used for sloping, just make a home made fuz.....even s powered glider, ice or electric powered... Seen a ref foamy home made glider on here for ideas about suitable fuz.... Pm me your email for info, dimensions etc.
  6. So the cub just slots together with no real need for a plan to place parts into position for glueing etc.. Self jigged... I saw the write up etc. Etc. When the kit was released. Way back when, the precedent hiboy was s self jigged fuz, the wing being foam veneered. I hope you took the time and effort to draw around all the parts as accurately as you could, so you can make another one ? Not really a "stick and tissue" type assembly... I still say get stick and Tissue kit, cut out the parts and assemble on the plan etc....you will learn more. Cover with tissue or lightspan, trim and fly freeflight. Even a small inexpensive twenty inch span free flight rubber powered model will teach you a huge amount. Enjoy. May I ask please, where is Ivinghoe Beacon please ? You will love slope soaring, even pss warbirds etc.. Will a cub slope soar ? Will a super 60 slope soar ?
  7. Thanks, I will consider that when I make the ladybird I have, when it's time comes, thanks, much appreciated .
  8. Hi hooch, Someone mentioned slope soaring without getting their head shot off ! If you have never made a "stick and tissue" flying aeroplane before, visit charity shops, you may get lucky. The wife brough home yesterday A Kiel Kraft Cessna 140 free flight rubber powered jobby that will easily enlarge for electric power RC indoor flying. £2.50. Get a small balsa model from vmc or similar to make. Laser cut parts means it's similar ( thats "similar", not identical but similar ) to an airfix plastic model but will need covering . Did you do woodwork at school ? If you did you know about wood, grain, how to cut......etc.. Check out the sonata, there was an article about it a couple of years ago in rcme, orange and black in colour from memory with a nose mounted self folding prop and electric motor. It has been asked but where do you live, Cumbria by chance, near local hills, or in flat Norfolk. Did you find a local club ? Enough from me,the daggers are being sharpened.... Have a great day and happy landings.
  9. Balsa cabin sonata ? But perhaps with a full elevater ?
  10. Some time ago I am sure someone kindly posted A4 size tiled version of the spitty plan, and similar type foamy models, hanky panky as well ??? I am sure I copied yhemjinyo my phone, which of course died taking all the stored info with it If I have remembered correctly, please could someone point me to the right thread/posts please. Very much appreciated ( I have been searching for hours and hours and days now ) and thanks in advance...
  11. Hi Andy, Post a hello in the hello section so others can comment. Amazon has that book that's been mentioned but if you have a proper computer, down load it from the link mentioned and either print it off or read from your large computer screen. See you in the hello section this evening ? Don't worry, you will soon get the hang of this place. Ps, have you read this thread from the begining ?
  12. Thank you so much chaps. I am sure newbies, tyros, born again and even some old sweats will learn a thing or two by reading it. It's as well to remind ones self from time to time... Thanks, much appreciated.
  13. Hi Jonathan, May I ask please, what is the books title and when might it have been written ? I must have been about 10, dad says " were going out" . So us kids, 4 boys, me being number 3, pile into the commer minibus. Usual argument, I'm sitting there, no I am, DAD ! I would sit on the single seat by the sliding door, the seat closest to the rear heater. We end up in Church Stretton. He says " we are going up there" , walking up the clearly visible track. We eventually get to the top, fabulous views and air. Lots of people up there and some flying radio controlled gliders..... Talked to a chap who let me have a brief go on one of the sticks, ten seconds or so.....wow, I'm hooked ! Much better than free flight ( freeflight locally at home means it flies off into the mountains or the sea ) and control line. I ask about cost ..... When 27 meg stuff was dumped on the UK matket, I took up radio control model flying. Took me a year to save for 35meg stuff and hi boy etc., but powered gliders and slope soarers were affordable. The girlfriends mum lived on Cilan headland... Apart from the busy 8am till 9pm 7 day week summer season, we were up there every weekend more or less... Headland and penrhos. Yes you can get out of practise, but you don't really forget. Even flying a seagull mode 1 can be good practise. I used to do that prior to learning to fly the first glider. 😀 It's chucking it down with rain again here today. Sometimes it will rain all week, horizontally. We call it liquid sunshine.🤣
  14. Here here, well said Andy. Have you seen the weather forecast for wednesday/Thursday !
  15. No, changed your mind about thread location about hand launching....
  16. Slec coloured top "square tanks" have chrome plated brass metal parts according to slec. Thanks slec.
  17. I have never been to the model engineering exhibition usually in Alli palli in London, very early on in the new year. Engineers making usually working models in sheds/spare rooms. Absolutely fantastic, works of art ( not unmade beds ! ). Still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....
  18. I apologise in advance, slight thread drift.... The lambrettas and Vespas that flew off the Chelsea bridge, admittedly not very well, was that a hobby or a sport 🤣lol.... Has that bit of father Thames been dredged I wonder ?
  19. Your going to be asked when you learnt to fly and with what next Chris.... It had been suggested before that the real "aeromodellers" are the "free flighters" who either make their subjects from kits, plans or even their "inteligence'". Do I have a rtf foamy model aircraft, yes, two. Have I flown them successfully, yes. Are they ready to fly at the moment, yes. Is the local weather suitable for them to fly at the moment, no. Hope that helps you. Stuff to do... Happy landings.
  20. When I was in Tesco about 3 weeks ago looking at thiet brown paper, which seemed thin and tore easily, I spotted a pack of red tissue paper...maybe absorbant "snot" type but looked like our sort of tissue paper. A smallish inexpensive sealed pack. Will buy one to try next time I'm in there..... Will be checking out the works brown paper in the sale so will look for tissue also. By the way, wh Smith's sale, our local branch Is now NOT closing down ? Is your local branch closing down ?
  21. Hi Don, are you a surfer by chance ? 😀 Boyo is not a local expression near where I live here in the north of wales... The local word used is a four letter one, and considered an insult if incorrectly said, needing a slight hesitation and emphasis to make it so, otherwise it's perfectly acceptable and considered very friendly. The friendlyness of the word when used that way would never ever come across in a forum message. I will say no more than that as I do not want to be told off. 🤣 I can see god needing a ticket to get into Wimbledon and alike.... yep,max got it right I reckon, agy agy agy 😄 Have a great day my friend. this man flu I have is getting worse. Feels like I had gravel in my porriage this morning. gone t o have a very hot bath.... Ddistaw yn yr cefn !
  22. One point.....that's what happens when the roof is closed, god can't see them play ! ☹️. Ireland's prop forwards will drag the other team over the line and usual...probably.
