  1. Apparently that has been sorted, merged. I will leave things as they are for a few days, giving time for the correct insurance certificate to arrive. I know they will be busy so I will give them time, rather than me tasseling them. I won't be going flying yet, as I have to apply the CAA op code I'd to the models...and want all paperwork ship shape and Bristol fashion. Hopefully the laptop will now talk to the printer so I can take all relevant paperwork with me when I eventually venture out model flying. My first flights will be with the ninga250 heli on a flat calm day on the empty football field area a 5 mins walk from home.
  2. My first CAA subs payment. Paid via Bmfa yesterday. I rejoined Bmfa in Dec after many years of non flying. System seemed to log me in twice as insurance certificate sent in new year now has incorrect member number, but have "new" insurance certificate ( as a pdf, not able to print off as libraries still closed ) with updated member number. Will check again... I wonder if there are 2 rich Griffs, but my address etc. will be different...
  3. Anyone else having problems with the gomembership part of the Bmfa website, it doesn't seem to work on my phone sending me round in circles, and if it shows my membership the data is incorrect. I paid my CAA subs yesterday, had confirmation emails and got the CAA email with my op number this morning, meaning renew is this time next year, but the Bmfa data says renewal Dec this year. I am still waiting for a "corrected" insurance certificate... Anyone else having problems ?
  4. I started aeromodeling with cl. My first RC model was a galaxy minow 2 channel motor glider, pod powered with a Cox 049, which was a tad underpowered. I fitted from memory a DC sabre which was much better. After several "repairs" the DC was replaced with a Cox 09. I flew the socks off the thing and had a few more heavy "arrivals". It's wieght increased and needed a paw 19 on the front. That was great but further repairs made it so heavy that it did not fly very well at all. I got fed up with repairing the now weak "boom" so it was scrapped, with the wings being made into a cl model that flew well. I certainly got my money's worth ( I didn't have much ) from that model and it taught me lots. I had a cruisader glider that was a good slope soarer, and I flew the socks off that as well. Then I got a hiboy which was great, even inverted. I flew the socks off that as well. I still have the hiboy wings. My 4 channel shadow is about 25 years old now and will be flying again when ready and we are allowed out to play ?. Would I recommend a minow now, no, the boom is too weak.
  5. Better hope and prey it doesn't do that to the sensus form! "The dog eat it " just wouldn't cut it when asked why your firm isn't posted in me thinks...lol.
  6. Doh, wrong magazine, twas in the excellent Bmfa news magazine feb 2021 issue !
  7. Did I imaging this but there was an article in rcme about this kit, with the kit and plane being made and flown by a tyro ? Where abouts is it in the mag section please, I cannot seem to find it, it my copy of the Mag for that matter...
  8. Are there any Vodafone scams going around ? Someone phoned me using a known number as the mobile showed me who was phoning, but the chap said he was from Vodafone..... Anyone had similar ?
  9. 5 wards in Bangor hospital North Wales have covid outbrake. English government is going to make the same mistakes I fear. Tory sparks should stay patient rather than become one. My first jab Friday... Going to stay really patient ( and frustrated ) until things get much much better, hopefully by this time next year. Thinking real hard about rtp in doors... I will not be going anywhere until things get much better, much better than in the summer.
  10. So this hobby is going to be a very rich persons pastime, an "mot" for the model and "licence" for the pilot etc., not to mention more sophisticated radio equipment and aircraft "black box" flight recorder. I am very surprised, shocked, that the "car drone" was not inspected in detail. Did you watch the chitty chitty bang bang program "drone" ?
  11. Somewhere in the he loft I should have templates and probably a miniskyman plan. Been up in the loft quite recently looking for other stuff, but will look again as I want to make an other miniskyman again, 049 Cox or maybe 06 enya. An 09 will be too powerfully/fast, been there done that, 09 Cox TD vertical climb was only limited by fuel. When it find templates/plane will get back to this spatman thread.
  12. Well well well, I too am just at the experimentation stage ( again, over 20 years ago was the first time, c/l wings out if white foam packing case scrap stuff ) and purchased a roll of nichrome wire from expo drills and tools, 1 metre lenght and very thin gauge, Amati art no. 804. I have some stepper motors but no driver, yet. Will read this thread from the begining as well as some modelling mag articles. Reason, balsa is getting expensive. Yellow PCB board for dormers, so no "wire sticktion" or jerkyness, may have a roller to roll over former... As said at the experimentation stage again. Need to illuminate the "wire drag" and profile change in aerofoil section in the middle of the wing. Hope stepper motors geared down will help with that problem. Guitar strings ? A cool but hot enough Lazer may be the best ? But money needed for that I fear....
  13. Thanks Frank and Alan, will read the internet one this evening, this phone will not open pdf files, don't know why. The lads phone does read pdf files. Me Saving hard for a pc or laptop, then landline etc.. This aeromodeling is getting expensive now, c/l the answer...just like my teens...
  14. A concrete coal bunker outside maybe, or similar...as long as it's rain proof. Still waiting for Bmfa lipo safety info sheet to arrive. What's temperature specs for lipo''s, Max and Min ambient temperature ? Lipo''s are new to me...
  15. I'm new to lipo''s, still waiting for Bmfa safety sheet about them, but the more I hear/find out about them I less I like them, bomb waiting to go off ! And we call it progress ? Glad you ok and the house is still standing.
  16. Yeh, dens, keep it local, well same country at least, the new black widow jar is filling up slowly, anyone wanna buy an RC boat ? Leander lookalike, 1.5 scale Vic Smeed searider....will have HMS romper x 1.5 freeplan ww2 destroyer, both models will fit in bath....but not with you in it as well, the bath I mean. All monies going into aeromodeling......
  17. Yep, know about them, based in Canada I believe ? There is another in USA.... Hope Dens model supplies near Isle of white are still gunna be there....... Need/would like a pair of 049's for the Cox wings... Also need some spares for the pair of td09's I have, real animals they are.... But first, some 049's for the wings, then a new black widow for the Cox powered fournier free plan model, been wanting to make that for the past 30 years ! , So a few months delay won't matter much.....I now have the time.
  18. Wanted, Cox 049's for c/l use. I have a pair of Cox fledgling wings and would like to make balsa fuz's to make them fly, but need a pair, or 2 individual Cox 049's with radial mount tanks, to get this little project off the ground. Can you help please. I am not a shop or dealer, just a frustrated aeromodeller.
  19. I used to know a Colin Bernard, would the name Alwyn mean anything to you, Germany ?
  20. Any fliers in the Porthmadoc Caernarfon area ? I know of llyn model flying club Penrhos and Cilan headland as I was a member many years ago, but are there any flying sites closer to home ? Over.....
  21. As said this phone will not open a pdf file, as in it won't open a pdf file, but it does show stuff on the Bmfa website, which i have read quite a few times now. I will be printing off stuff to commit to memory, being easier to read in print on a page ( with my notes ) . I have read the article in the Bmfa mag as well. It is going in. I will research the operator registration, but is that not going to be done on mass by the Bmfa sometime this month, this month's batch ? If your not sure, ask. I have not been model flying yet for many reasons, one being I live in Wales, where model flying is not considered to be an essential activity. Model flying is allowed in England I believe, but apply the phycology of the government add, look them in the eye etc., Is it an essential activity ? Not in Wales it ain't. Anyway hopefully the seminar will answer these questions, I am sure I am not alone.
