  1. I use white sign vinyl. I have a CraftRobo plotter/cutter so have this in stock. I use a knife and straight edge to stip down to suitable widths and squares to cover servos. Easier than starting the computer and plotter. I get 230x610mm sheets cut for my craftrobo from MDP Supplies but you should find A4 sheets on ebay easily enough.
  2. Ah! Global warehouse. Thanks Trevor. I also found different docs on the BoB page to tbe Desert scheme page. That'll help one of my winter projects.
  3. Question was raised regarding fine discs for the 125mm sander. I bought 400g self adhesive discs from www.heritageabrasives.co.uk I found them through ebay. They did have other grits available.
  4. I bought the tropical scheme version at Hobbyking Live, watching the video of your BoB livery it is great for orientation. Anyway, where did you find the manual Trevor? I didn't see a link on Hobbyking and I couldn't find it on the Durafly website. Best I found were a couple of pdf where to place the markings. 5. One place you wont get any is Maplins. They went belly up a few months back..
  6. It is possible to mixx gorilla PU glue with PVA. Its supposedly makes the foamed PU stronger. I have whisked PU with water to make it foam up more but that make an open brittle foam.
  7. Posted by john stones 1 on 01/08/2018 14:24:25: Ah but.... I went to buy a car on credit, the salesman told me I couldn't have finance unless I took PPI out, car was £3500 ish, by the time they totted it all up the car was close to £7000 ish, I said I'd sleep on it and never went back. Did he behave within the law ? If not, suck it up for lying. In this instance John you did took the correct action. Exactly as I would have. You reviewed what was being offered and rejected it. I feel if you had been provided this information and knowingly accepted the offer then more fool you. Are we to expect all the people that knowingly take out these glossy loans being offered at 4000% interest to have their poor judgement recompensed in future? If so sign me up for a Jeti with a 50% Wildcat and a Moki. Martin H has expanded quite succinctly my reasons for not claiming back on the PPI purchased. Regarding Martin T point. It is quite often people in precarious financial positions that do not consider the options carefully (to pinch Martin H words) and is usually why they are in a precarious financial position. I expect they are also the most likely to take the 4000% loan. I know somebody who was squarely in that category for the first 40 years of his life. Luckily for him it was only 30% credit cards available at the time.
  8. I have not claimed against the one CC that I had PPI on. It was not mis-sold and I knew I was buying it. When my circumstances changed I cancelled the PPI. Some may think this a ridiculously moral stance to take. But like buying the PPI, it was/is my choice.
  9. I used the slot method on my one. Run a knife along the fus and tuck the wire in edgewise. I ran a bit of cyno along to close up the slot. As Brian said, esc cable tied into the recess.
  10. My previous bench had an offcut of 6mm mdf which lasted well. Soaked up bashing. Cutting and solderibg very well. My latest bench has varnished 6mm mdf which I am not sure was worth the extra treatment. My woodwork bench is topped with oiled hardboard which is a good alternative to mdf and ready finished.
  11. I would expect NFM to give a more accurate reading. The passband on AM will be rather wide. I can only surmise it is the pulse train on the modulation that is tricking your scanner into 'auto' setting as AM. I cannot recall anyone manufacturing a 35mHz AM transmitter, I have only seen 35 FM since the early 80s.
  12. I have tried revivjng about half dozen mainly <1000mAh li-po using 0.5C constant current charge (ni-cd) over many years Some worked, some didn't. None have burst into flames. I have no qualifications to say anything more.
  13. Gorilla recommend soap, hand cream (moisturiser) and time. They specifically say not to use strong chemicals such as acetone or thinners, but that is probably safety driven advice. I have had limited success with acetone if it hasn't set, but mainly as TWS says, time
  14. I had my check flight on an ST Discovery last year. Quite a nice high wing foamie. I had a fair few flights with it by choice during week. Sun hat, shades and favourite neck strap is all you need. Perhaps trunks for the afternoon Edited By Kevin Wilson on 29/04/2018 23:08:28
  15. Refering to the original question. If you are referring to the coaxial dc input socket such as commonly used for transmitter charging connectors. These are specified by outer then inner dimmensions. The outer is commonly 5.5mm but the inner varies, 2.1mm and 2.5mm are the ones I see mostly. These would be specified 5.5x2.1 or 5.5x2.5 respectively. Measuring the plug is easy, using a caliper on the outside diameter and a drill bit as a plug gauge on the bore. The sockets I usually measure by trying first a 5.5x2.1 plug then a 5.5x2.5 plug. As has been mentioned, we are pushing these connectors hard so the correct size is essential. You can get away trickle charging a tx with the wrong connector, they will often make sufficient contact, but a recipe for disaster when drawing higher current.
  16. I flew an ST Discovery at RC Hotel last year and that was a nice foam plane. It is the standard trainer at rchotel. It seemed quite popular and there were plenty of fancier planes free to take off the rack. I also liked the FMS SuperEZ if you prefer a foam tail dragger. See what they have at the club, plenty of time to spend your money. Good luck
  17. As some previous posts seem to be based on modern lithium cell rules I will share my experience with LiPo as distinct from my use of Nickel technologies. I have not been so lucky with lithium cells taken to zero. 50% will not recover. and those that do show reduced capacity and I have little confidence in them. Those do go in the bin. It seems the less time a Lithium cell is at zero volts the better it can be recovered. One I had at zero volts for a few days recovered completely, One at Zero for a few months lost one cell completely and the other cells had <20% capacity. So quite similar to Martins example above. My experience runs counter to the common view that a Lithium cell taken below 3 volts is a gonner. As context I only use max 3S 2300mAh and in less demanding applications. All my cells are budget (turnigy, zippy etc) sourced from various internet sources. I always balance charge and always at 1C charge rate. Edited By Kevin Wilson on 04/10/2017 11:50:44
  18. It was always considered good practice to completely discharge nickel based batteries to zero. I have frequently taken nimh and nicd to zero without harm. I would recharge this pack at 1/10C but only because Eneloops are not quite as robust to high currents. I would not expect any charger to grumble about low voltage on a nickel setting as nicd/nimh do not have low voltage issues encountered with lithium batteries. If in doubt, do a few cycles and check the capacity. When I was rc car racing I regularly cycled my race packs 5C discharge 3C charge as a conditioning routine. It would restore their capacity. 19. Pop bottle method works really well. I used mdf for the plug and a few coats of varnish.  I used to do rc cars and the trick for painting the inside is to use a green nylon scouring pad to lightly scuff the inside of the clear plastic to give the paint a key. I found a worn one worked well and the fine scratches disapear in the paint. It's the smooth outer surface that gives the gloss shine.
  20. G6LTK here. I have a weekly sched on 2m rag chewing, but thats about it.
  21. Posted by David Mellor on 15/08/2017 10:20:33: I've been using z-bend with 1.6mm die wire (the maximum diameter my z-bend pliers can cope with according to the manufacturer)  The problem is that the wire rods flexed to much. In this situation I solder thinner wire Z bends to the end of thicker wire push rods. Or glue them to carbon rods. But then most of my builds are on the smaller side.
  22. It may be worth mentioning the website funfighters.co.uk  **LINK** as that is not the most prominent return on Google Edited By Kevin Wilson on 05/07/2017 23:10:36 Edited By Kevin Wilson on 05/07/2017 23:11:12
  23. I use 3S 1350 Zippy compact batteries pushed right to the back stop of the tray. I have 10g weight right at the back of the fuselage to get stock C of G. My first Phoenix I used 3S 2200 on the stock tray, so the fuselage must have been a bit heavier. My brother akways runs 3S 2200 batteries in his P2k but I don't see any advantage.
  24. If I remember correctly I paid £9. Just checked on hobby king. Showing UK stock and I went up to putting my money in. £82.11 + £5.65 shipping. I do get a discount but not on the P&P
