  1. The edit timescale has been added to the snagging list, too?
  2. Matty, presumably you mean that the 'Unread Content' comment and link in your first post (pic below) needs to be edited to 'All Activity' as suggested by Bob? If so, confirm and I'll edit it ASAP?
  3. Evening, Chris - taken a while but slowly getting up to speed?
  4. Posted by Rich too on 19/01/2021 21:00:45: Thanks Pete, I did not know that they are only removed if requested. Is it not possible to change the T&Cs ? I'm no legal eagle but I'm pretty sure the GDPR trumps the T&Cs...... Pete
  5. I'll just repeat what I posted in the thread linked to in posts above: Just to be clear, the only posts a moderator would remove are those which would breach the Code of Conduct. I cannot think of any circumstances where we would arbitrarily delete a member's entire posting history - we know only too well how much it disrupts the flow of threads. Deletion of content is only ever at the specific request of the member - and, believe me, we always try to dissuade them.... That principle still stands. On the (fortunately very rare indeed) occasions when we are left with no alternative but to ban a member, the default position is that all that member's posts remain intact and remain available for all to view. Most just walk away and put it behind them but a few, either through principle or spite or for whatever other reasons, demand that their contributions to the forum be obliterated. As I mention above, we do try to dissuade them and give them some time to think it over, but where they are adamant we have no choice. The deletion process is multi-step, with checks built in, so it cannot happen by accident. It's not something we take pleasure in doing, but that's the way it is. The 'Former Member' posts which remain are annoying but when you realise that there may be many hundreds, or even thousands of posts, from a prolific member, deletion of each individual post is unrealistic. In respect of missing photos, I recall many threads being disrupted a few years back when Photobucket, which hosted a lot of forum pics, introduced an unrealistic subscription fee and we lost many thread photos. That too was beyond our control. Pete

Great to see you back, Weasel! Pete
  7. Posted by Zflyer on 08/01/2021 10:53:17: To paraphrase an age old question: "who moderates the moderators ?" Great question! My take on it is that it's ultimately the members here. If greater numbers didn't like or accept the level we have to set, we'd soon see an exodus, or at least a steady drifting away and we see no evidence of that. People don't hang around places that don't suit them. No, we don't always get it spot on but it would seem most folk are content. We are very grateful for the support we get whenever moderation comes into question, be assured. Pete
  8. When you say 'a few dour faced individuals' I hope you're not referring to we mods, Kevin, as I can assure you that's far from the reality - we enjoy a good laugh as much as anyone else The fact is, 99.5% of threads on the forum require no moderation whatsoever and the overwhelming majority of contributors respect the simple rules of keeping things clean, relevant and polite. The other 0.5% of threads require an inordinate amount of attention as, unfortunately, some folk can't constrain themselves, don't think before they post or try to push the bar higher and higher. The funnies thread has had a very long run and has amused many of us but recently some posts have pushed the limits of what we are now expected to tolerate. Like it or not, the world has changed and some humour which was unremarkable in years gone by now attracts criticism, adverse comments and complaints to the mods. That gives us little choice in our efforts to keep the forum on an even keel. We've put things on ice for now and will look again at the situation in time. There is plenty of other entertainment and useful information here, I'm sure, so do think twice about leaving, please Pete
  9. Posted by Gary Manuel on 02/01/2021 20:23:02: Posted by Shaunie on 02/01/2021 19:54:11: Gotta throw my tuppence worth into the ring. Please get rid of the Grocer’s apostrophe’s. They have no place in an upper crust forum such as this. Especially one hosted by a publishing house. 🤪 Surely you mean Grocer's apostrophes Shaunie. If I could award you a ROFL, I would Pete
  10. Am I right in recalling that Parcelforce used to add about £14 handling charge to imports which were subject to Duty, no matter how little the duty was? It's been a while since I had deliveries to the UK, so my memory might be a bit hazy.... Pete
  11. Keeping an eye on this thread, I'm reminded of the following 'Dad's Army' exchange: Notebook in hand, pencil poised, the German officer says "Vot is your name?" "Don't tell him, Pike!" Pete
  12. As kc says, Matt, PM a moderator and we'll be able to edit it for you Pete
  13. Posted by McG 6969 on 18/12/2020 20:37:14: ... well, do I get some reward now for my prediction being 'correct' (this time, at least)? ... Cheers & welcome to Checo at RB... Chris Best I can do with the emojis we have available, Chris
  14. I'd like to see Checo there but i think Pierre Gasly may have done enough this year to get his Red Bull seat back. The teams think long-term, rather than emotionally. It's a tough business.... Pete
  15. Another great result for Charles - your winning run came a bit late in the season, unfortunately Thanks, gents - it's been another, memorably entertaining (against the odds) F1 season, with plenty of 'ifs', 'ands' and 'buts' when agonising over the predictions - and a usefully large slice of luck on occasions Congrats to Chris, Ade and John for pushing me all the way and thanks to everyone for battling your way through the season - 16 players is a respectable field Last and by no means least, massive thanks to John P for your dedication in running the league once again! I don't know if anyone else noticed but Lewis looked really fatigued and washed-out on the podium. I hope he doesn't have any long-term consequences after his bout of the virus..... Anyway, looking forward to next season already. I'll be on the back foot for inside information next year as I haven't yet worked out how I'm going to get the motorhome to Bahrain for the test days in February....
  16. Posted by McG 6969 on 07/12/2020 18:45:31: ... really no need to get 'stressed' here, Pete. Imagine having a real disaster outcome with only, say, 70 pts on your counter, I would need 196 of them to be able to get you off the crown... No way, young man... I'm a lot more worried about John S beating me from my 'Poulidor' position. But then, so it be. Cheers Chris That's quite achievable, Chris - look at the scores yesterday! I'll be pedal to the metal all the way to the chequered flag... Pete
  17. Posted by John Tee on 07/12/2020 11:34:33: Can Chris make up 125 points, after the last two races anything is possible. I'm sweating a bit, John. As yesterday's results show, I can't afford to relax for a moment as a hatful of points can disappear in a flash or a bang..... Excellent result for Charles A great shame for George but so very pleased to see Checo on the top step at last. Bonne chance to everyone for the final race! Pete
  18. We all differ and have to accept that other views may differ from yours. Whether you agree with them or not, falling out with each will solve nothing. I think everyone has had a chance to air their views, we'll lock this off now, folks. Pete

I've removed the link in EarlyBird's post but left the image for information. Pete
  20. Now I've approved this first post from you, Sean, have a look and see if your Inbox has contents and let us know the result, please Pete
  21. Posted by Stuart Z on 03/12/2020 15:36:48: Posted by Limobob on 01/12/2020 06:42:15: Not sure this is the correct thread to ask this question but here goes. When i log in the black bar at the top of the page is mis-placed and covering an area i need to click on. I.e.,, if i go to ‘forums’ the wording ‘latest posts’ is covered up. As this is the one thing on the forum i use most i am finding it very annoying. My subscription is still valid so no problem there. Same problem here. I view on an iPad and it is as you describe when in portrait format but fine when turned to landscape. This is a new issue. Was fine up until a week or so back. S The techies are busy with the setting up of the new forum framework, gents, so if you could bear with us for now and hopefully it will be sorted when we're up and running Pete
  22. Posted by Limobob on 02/12/2020 18:58:33: No response to my problem, which i am quite suprised at. I thought maybe the people who run the site could help. The problem is solved however by logging into the site with my ipad in landscape rather than portrait as i usually do. Is this some sort of glitch in the programming or is it just me? Hi Limobob, I'll let the techies know about your issue - a screenshot of the problem may help, if possible? I'll mention the password reset issue too, Malcolm Pete
  23. Fantasy League have announced how they will deal with the driver changes this weekend: **LINK** I'll not be making any changes but might think a bit about the predictions..... Pete
