  1. Prolly wrong but is this Spektrum radio gear? if so do you have the throttle trim all the way down?
  2. **LINK** There was a kit to build a CNC router which used a dremel some place too but i don't have the link.
  3. I use exterior varnish which is oil based, its fuel proof but not completely clear. I have tried several makes of water based varnish none of which proved to be fuel proof, they resist fuel for a while then go soft, sticky and discolor You may have problems getting oil based paints to bond to water based paint.
  4. If a new engine won't start the cause could well be the low end needle setting is a long way out. You could try starting the engine with the throttle at 2/3rds to 3/4 open. Be careful though. I have seen this on a couple of new ASP 4s, turned out the low end needle was screwed right in.
  5. I've been ordering model parts from Phoenix Models for many years, service is excellent and Stan (proprietor) is a mine of useful information having been in the hobby a long time. On Tuesday around 16:00hrs I ordered some servos from Stan and they arrive Wednesday morning, hard to beat that. Well done to Parcel Force too for such prompt delivery.
  6. My download speed is 31.36Mbps, upload speed 2.01Mbps on speedtest.net Edited By Rick Tee on 18/01/2015 15:57:47
  7. While you're at it why not check out your computer/network security: **LINK** click on the shields up link. I get 100% stealth on all tests, what do you get?
  8. Assuming your TX is plugged in to a compatible USB port it should show up as PPM device in Control Panel-> Devices and Printers, where you can calibrate it before running ClearView.
  9. Bicarbonate of soda works fine as an accelerator.
  10. Thanx for all the replies, I feel a bit more confident in using them again. I have had another email from them suggesting orders are phoned in to confirm stock and it does appear to have been an oversight in failing to let me know the item was out of stock. Though their shopping cart system ought mark products as out of stock automatically as many do when they are tied into a stock database. Amongst other things I wanted the Swift for evaluation, i have flown a few Boomerangs, Tutor 40's (MkI & MkII), Thunder Tigers (MkI awful, MkII much better), Arising Stars, H9 Alpha and Wot Trainers. The only thing i have against the Boomerang is the rather dated looking colour scheme, they fly great as does the Tutor and the Wot Trainer. The Swift is a bit different in the colour scheme dept and, like the Wot, comes with optional tail dragger set up/hardware, a screw on wing rather then rubber bands and electric/ic fixings. Anyway I had no problem getting a Swift from Modelmaniacs so problem sorted.
  11. On the 3rd of this month i ordered a Swift trainer from Inwoods Models they took the money and a week later i had heard nothing. I then emailed them asking what was going on and received this reply: Hi, Apologies for the delay, we have had to order more Swifts in from our suppliers, but they are still waiting for them to come in. I will have the Boomerang and the Irvine Tutor 2 in stock in the next day or so.They are all the same price, but we think that both the Boomerang and the Tutor are better flyers than the Swift. They are both better in the wind. Funny as all the reviews i had found said the Swift flys well and is fine in the wind, at least on a par with other trainers. I asked them for a refund but not heard anything since, I raised a dispute with paypal but as Inwoods have not responded now upped the dispute to a claim. Be warned, might be better to take your business elsewhere. Edited By Rick Tee on 27/10/2014 06:38:15 Edited By Rick Tee on 27/10/2014 06:38:35
  12. Well i asked my council some years ago their reply was 'all forms of model flying are banned within the city limits'. When asked if they would provided facilities for this sport their reply was 'we have no where suitable'. All provisions seem to have a get out clause.
  13. Posted by Tony Bennett on 10/08/2014 12:58:26: my view is that it would be better to spend the money needed to fund a national Centre would be better spent on funding improvements to local clubs. some clubs are losing their sites, why not fund the purchasing permanent fields from local councils. or even set up county centres rather than one central one. Edited By Tony Bennett on 10/08/2014 13:05:24 I couldn't agree more, a national center will almost certainly benefit a few and be paid for by many. Prop Nut: publicity is a double edged sword, there's a lot to be said for a low profile.
  14. I guess there's no chance of Love thy Neighbour or Alf Garnett coming back then. Supercar (Prolly the first marionette series) followed by Fireball XL5 'on our way home' (Robbie the robot). Oh and Lost in Space.

  16. Profili will export .dxf files, though i'd recommend fixing them in a cad package as it does odd things with multiple redundant layers.
  17. I cut the pilot to fit, super glue to 2mm scrap balsa, fit 12mm of 3mm dowel in the middle of the balsa base, paint with acrylics (£1 set from a discount store). Not had a problem with releasing agent but will wash them in future just in case.
  18. Seagull Pilatus PC9, with its tricycle undercarriage its like a trainer to take off and land. On low rates its as docile as a trainer and on high rates fully aerobatic.
  19. I'm enjoying this thread Peter, great info, looking forward to methods and tips on aerobatics. Re adverse roll with rudder; I have an Aresti 40 which does this.
  20. When application of rudder produces some roll component (roll coupling) it can be positive (in the direction of the rudder) or negative (in the opposite direction of the rudder). Trim chart: **LINK** Some tips on flying aerobatics: **LINK**
  21. I have a Rexon from Screwfix £99. Pin fit or plain end blades, works fine with standard fret saw blades when i need some thing for more detail. Also has tension release for quick fitting of blades or when cutting internal holes, variable speed, tilt table, an adjustable flexi tube for blowing the dust away and a fitting for a vacuum cleaner. The only problem i have with it is the table has been rough ground could do with a finish grind. Does need to be bolted to a heavy bench. Works great, very happy with it. I did try the £50 job from Machine Mart it was terrible.
  22. If it's running hard at tick over and lower throttle range then its too rich on the low end needle. Edited By Rick Tee on 26/11/2013 07:01:06
