Phil May
Hi Guys I was wondering what the most popular model is at your club. At our club (GaerPark MFC South Wales) I would say the most common model is the I.C powered ARTF Wotty, followed by the Big Stik. There are numerous versions of Extras, Edge's etc but not all the same manufacture. Could we have a bit of feed back on this one please, I think it will make an interesting topic. Many thanks B.P
Stephen Grigg
Hi BP,amongst the stalwarts its the Wot 4 seems favorite followed by the Boomerang,by the newer members..A few Magnatilla also. But there is a good variation throughout the club so its always interesting. Eck
Yes, definitely the Wot 4 at DMAC. There are numerous ARTF Mk2s, several kit-built Mk.3s and a couple of Foam-Es. After that it seems to be a mix of scale aerobatic types.
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I can't honestly say that any one type stands out - we have a pretty mixed bunch of models. There were two Pulses a few months ago and there are two Renegades at present. A few years ago there were three Hype's. But both Pulse's and two of three Hype's have "bit the dust". So at present I can only think of a single type that is represented by more than one example - i.e. two Rengades - and they don't get down that often as both of them belong to clubmates who have plenty of other models they seem to prefer to fly. John Privett
Interesting question.... But I think I'll have to go along with BEB for my answer. Going back a year or two (OK, more like 15 or so years!) the Wot-4 was totally dominant where I fly, probably on a typical afternoon outnumbering everything else combined. But these days, I can't really say any one model is particularly more popular than anything else. Various Edges, Extras etc., yes - I can agree with that, Big Stiks though? Can't say I remember ever seeing one!
Phil May
Oh John, never seen a Big Stik BP
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
No - never seen one at my club either. So your not alone John! I think these things can be very "local phenomina". One person builds one - it goes really well so someone else builds one and so on. We've obviously never had the initail one! BEB PS Nice video! Cool flying!Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 28/12/2010 19:27:
Allan Bennett
There's only a couple of models that repeat themselves at Letchworth so far as I can remember ... Wot 4 (kit, and ARTF), and Multiplex Twinstar. Having said that, I fly a Flair Magnatilla and a SIG Liberty Sport, and I see pictures of others of them on our clubhouse wall from the dim and very distant past. Lindsay Todd
Thinking back over the years BEB, our club has had plenty of Flair Magnatilas, and Puppeteers, weve also had our fair share of Wot 4's and Acro Wots. We do seem to be a club of variety at the moment though.
Phil May
BEB, Tim who was flying my Stik on the video is , in my opinion, an amazing flyer. He is a BMFA Chief examiner or something like that. Here's an other of him. Edited By Big Phil on 28/12/2010 20:28:
