Hawker
I am still looking at the possibility of using a flight 3 axis joystick + throttle slider instead of 2 sticks. I want to control all aero surfaces (ie elevator/aileron/rudder/yaw & throttle on one stick. The implementation on a Futaba Tx will be easier than on my current Spectrum DX6i, simply due to hardware issues (wiring space being one of them). Could say the Futaba 6EXP FASST 2.4gHz Radio 6ch Tx transmissions be received & bound to spectrum receivers? Any advice welcomed!
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
No. They are completely different protocols. There is no level of compatability, indeed the Specktrum rx will not listen to the Futaba transmissions - it will just see them as noise. Tom Wright 2
Just possibly hawker if the r/f pcb was swapped over. cheers
Martin Harris - Moderator
On a more positive note, a Futaba transmitter with an RF module could be fitted with a Spektrum module. Did you ever contact MRW as suggested on a previous thread on this subject that you posted? i12fly
Is this a project to get a one-handed disabled person flying? or could be adapted for one? (forget the non-compatibility bit, that's just lack of info) I'd like to say good luck with the project and I hope you will keep us posted. Martin Harris - Moderator
No - the importers do!
Tom Wright 2
I think it is the owners responsibillty to pr ove complience when mods have been done by other than importer or mfg. cheers Tom.

Take a look at this thread Tom We're not modifying anything anyway - the module is certified by the importer as being suitable for use in Futaba transmitters.. Tom Wright 2
Martin thanks for the thread an excelent debate, however as BMAA member and electronic engineer i have worked on complience issues so am aware of all the issues debated. If you go back to my 59.03 comment you will see i reffer to changing the r/f pcb for different type ,in this case the ce mark would no longer be valid, the point is fitting an approved module is very different to fitting a pcb removed from a another tx . Martin Harris - Moderator
Well, you were the only one to mention RF PCBs and you did ask, "AII this talk about swaping modules do we concider complience issues?" but if the BMAA happens to be the British Martial Arts Association I think I'd better withdraw from this discussion while I still have my kneecaps! J Myers III
Hmm I was asking myself the same question today, so I searched it on youtube. Transmitters and recievers are like cars and car keys. You use a fords keys for a nissan..it just wouldnt work..which relates to your question so the answer is no lol
