David Ashby - Moderator
Had a phone call from someone who was wondering if anyone is aware of plans for an Airspeed Horsa troop carrying glider. Not sure of scale but pop a post below and I'll pass on the info... thanks.
Pete B
There's one not far from home, David. About 88" span, according to a post towards the end of this thread. There is also a 2.8m span plan, apparently available from a French site here. Whether it is still active or not, I don't know but go the 'Les Maquettes' to see some pics of the model, then 'Plans Dispo', where there is an email link to contact the site owner. David Ashby - Moderator
Ah, thanks Pete good man. The x-list plans descriptions are poor at best. I'll pass that on, thanks again.
001
There is a Horsa being reconstructed at RAF Shawbury here I am sure I have seen another replica fuselage in a museum, recently * but cannot remember which one, if the enquirer needs information about the colour scheme, markings etc. They could find it useful. I have also seen a large model at a model airshow. (LMA?) being towed up by a bomber. *Sorry, it was a replica Waco Hadrian at the Elvington Air museum, York!Edited By Richard Bond on 17/05/2011 13:54:
kc
Doesn't this just illustrate how poor the search facility is at MyHobbyStores? Must be many lost sales because it does not find anything without the plan number in many cases. There is a thread with some building info on RCuniverse, and it is an enlarged 110 inch version of the 88 inch plan. see .rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2669498/tm.htm
001
There is an Australian flying model on YouTube..
PatMc
I scanned the Silent Flight plans article on the 88" span SF522 Horsa some time ago & put the jpg files into a Word doc. Unfortunately the quality isn't very good & it's barely readable. However here's a couple of photos copied from the doc that show the construction. Incidentally I did a quick search for Horsa in MHS & came up with it no problem.
David Ashby - Moderator
Yes I found the page on MHS but no description. Pat that's great, you'll make a modeller very happy. Would you have the month/year at all?
David Ashby - Moderator
Found it, 1997.
PatMc
David, I haven't got the mag handy, it's in the loft so could be a couple of days before I can locate it. However I could email the word doc (1KB file) if wanted.
David Ashby - Moderator
Pat, no worries, I've just found it, many thanks though
