Allan Bowker
RC Flying holidays have been mentioned a few times in this forum and there are a few links scattered about around many threads. I thought I would start a this thread where we could post information and links to websites that could help those seeking some time on the sticks when on holiday (UK or overseas). Reviews about each facility however may be best as their own topic, just to keep this thread as a simple directory of locations. Here are the ones I know about: RCHotel, Corfu: http://www.rchotel.com Domaine Du Planet (CEMA), France: http://www.domaine-du-planet.fr Fly in France: http://www.flyinfrance.com RC Holidays, Thailand: http://www.rc-holidays-thailand.com
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
You don't have to go to a specialist centre - you can just take your model on holiday with you! I plan to do the same this year as well - this time on Seil Island! BEB
Allan Bowker
Agreed BEB When I've been down in Exmouth, Devon, the local club has been very welcoming to holiday makers with BMFA insurance.

John Tee
If your holidaying in this country I can reccomend the Brean holiday as mentioned by Kelly above. I have been going for many years. Long flat sandy beach site where the tide seems to go out miles ( a council approved flying site). Plenty of hills for gliders and a grassfield (ex golf course fairway last year) site inland for those who don't want to fly on the beach. A great time. can be 4,7 or 10 days, your choice. Allan Bowker
I'm glad you posted this John as I checked out their website and it said that all model flying is banned.

Pete B
I'll leave the Brean post in place, Allan. The actual comment from the Heath and Safety page of their site is: Kite flying or remote control planes / helicopters are not permitted on the Resort. Please use the beach. This should make it clear to any forumites contemplating a visit. As well as this, of course, they often have the special modelling week in late summer although it's not mentioned on the site at present. Allan Bowker
Thanks John / Pete It's good to know that the Brean site has been verified as a model flying destination.
Olly P
A specialist week eh, hmmmm....given the prices for a week down there especially if you can fill the villa then I might have a chat with the misses and her friends down south.... John Tee
Alan, sorry for the late reply, not checked in before now today. When I posted yesterday I didn't realise the original query was made in 2012. I panicked when I saw the ban on model flying as I am already booked in for this year. Checked on their site and the model festival is still on at the beginning of September. I think what it means is that generally there is a ban on flying in the campsite area but the "greenfield" flying is done off site on fields away from the main campsite and last year was on an old greenway of the attached golf course that has been remodelled over the last 2 or 3 years. The main flying area for power is on the beach which is recognised by the local council as a flying site. Well worth considering.
