Flite08
Is there any point in sanding off (gently) the burnt residue on the wood parts or is it normal to just glue the parts together, I assume if the burnt edge would show through the covering then a gentle sanding would be exceptable, Does the residue affect the strength of the glued joint? Andy Green
I sand it off, just a quick wipe with 240 grit, Dont like the idea of gluing to carbon. Ernie has never had a problem so I guess the glue penetrates. Andy
Jim Newberry - Nuviation Ltd.
I used to sand it off but then read on another forum somewhere that it has no effect on the bility of glue to stick. Now I only bother sanding it off if I am using translucent film covering and the black edge would show through. Never had a problem with adhesion at all.
