Tony Bennett
rest of the formers cut out now.
Tony Bennett
made a start on the fuselage today. built the jig to build in the curved front. Then you pin the side down and laminate the doublers on. when you lift it off it looks like this. Joining the two sides together. I can start planking the top of the fuselage tomorrow. Bob Cotsford
this is not your first build is it? I do like the laminating jig, I seem to end up doing that using stacks of books and the like to prop up the ends. A useful tip that. Remember the old Tips'n'Tricks pages? or was it tricks'n'tips? Martyn K
Hi Tony Looking very good and I like the jig idea.. How do you transfer the plan shapes to the wood for the formers? I can see a few pencil lines but they look very accurate.. Is this the electric or the IC version that you are selling? Martyn
Tony Bennett
i use tracing paper to copy the formers and transfer the marks onto the wood. well it is the electric version and i will not be building an ic one now. might not build another at all now. cant decide. Martyn K
I must admit, I would struggle to build 2 identical models when there is so much variety to choose from, It is certainly an intereesting looking model though. I would love to see it fly. BW Martyn Note: When I used to fly free flight competition models, I built 13 Humplehound A/2 gliders (or close derivatives) between 1971 and 1984.. Roughly one per year. Tony Bennett
i want one for me though. still i will do the lancer first, then get back to another mark
Tony Bennett
i need to sell the models i build as my pension does not go very far. so i nearly always build 2 of everything, one to sell and one to keep. the selling one pays for 2 keep ones. back to the fuselage today as it is raining yet again and i cant go flying. looks like 2013 is going to be the same as 2012, wet wet wet and wet
the unmagnificent man
Ha ha ha, we see a lot of builds on here but you make me laugh. If I don't log on to this site at least once a week I miss one of your builds. Your the only person I know who can build faster than I can type a reply. Seriously though, looks great I appreciate anyone who can build from a plan, but when you see it done with such speed without compromising on quality its even more impressive. Your probably flying it by the time I've finished writing this..... keep up the good work. UMM
Tony Bennett
i feel i am slowing down a bit as age creeps up on me. its 11:44 and i have not looked at the build yet. best go do something to it, or the day will have gone with no progress. Tony Bennett
well as it was wet i did some building instead. Fitted the rest of the formers and started planking. planked hatch removed. Had an offer up. Made the battery and servo trays as well. need to sort out how i will be doing the elevators.

Tony Bennett
So this afternoon after doing my jobs round the house for swmbo i sat down and made a start. glued the tailplane on and built up the rest of the fuselage tail. Then we stuck the fin on. and while the superfast glue was drying i cut out and sanded down the rudder, hinged it and pushed it in place. The we cut out and shaped the elevators, hinged and pushed them in place. Just for a laugh i clamped the wing on and took some pictures. Hopefully back to the wing tomorrow. Tony Bennett
Not a very good day today. got told off for making too much dust while sanding and had to do a big clean up to please swmbo. did manage to shape the leading and trailing edges, fit the front ply brace, sort out the servo mount and make a start on the wing tips. thats it. started something else to fill the non sanding indoors order. Tony Bennett
Been a bit of a hold up while i am waiting parts. got the motor mount this morning, so i have been playing with the nose construction. nice collection of compound curves. Tony Bennett
I think the nose is just about ready now, needs a little more smoothing and a better sized spinner, but you get the idea.
Tony Bennett
outlets and inlets sorted. next we look at the canopy. the front section comes of with the battery hatch. the rear section will be fixed to the fuselage.
