Deanland Duffer
I have designed a built a 1/5th scale model of a Luton Minor. The original Aicraft (G-ASML) was finished in standard silver butyrate UV protection dope. Does anyone know were I might obtain a suitable paint? The model is covered in white solar tex. Bob Cotsford
you wouldn't be far off with Flair Spektrum silver spray
Allan Bowker
I was thinking that Deanland wanted "silver butyrate UV protection dope". However he did ask where he could get a suitable paint. After re-reading his post I'm not sure if he wants dope or paint Bob.

Steve B
Thats a cracking finish Jim... as a newbie to all this i hope my next questions aren't a bit daft: 1 -How did you do it ? undercoat etc?? 2- is it heavier than the ultracote stuff? i'm fancying useing it on a 1/7th p51 cheers
Myron Beaumont
Jim Ah,but is it even fingermark proof never mind fuel proof .I have used similar but have found it impossible to fuelproof.Best paint I've used is the "5 Wheels" stuff that you can fuelproof .Not as bright though I must admit. Jimbo565
Steve /Myron The cowl is all ABS plastic apart from the sides which are Litho plate, gave it a coat of acrylic White primer and on with the Chrome effect paint, cant comment on the ultracote stuff ,never used it. As Myron has stated it surley aint fingermark proof and I'm hoping I wont have to fuel proof it seeing as the exhaust exits from below the cowl. If it comes to fuel proofing I'll have to cross that bridge if I need to, could be difficult to find something that wont react with the chrome effect. PatMc
Jim, just convert it to electric - end of fuel proofing problems & no need to poke around in the cowl once the motor etc is installed so no fingermarks either. You know it makes sense.
Jimbo565
The silver fox, I have been involved with the Black Art since I started my apprenticeship in electrical engineering a looooooong time ago and now I dont want to know about it,I cant tell an Amp and an Ohm apart ,forgot the difference between inductance and reluctance and Diodes are another mystery,is it a full wave or half wave or maybe a zenner,i have come across Black and decker diodes, double decker diodes and so on. Anyway,A Tigermoth does not sound right emitting a high pitched whine,it needs a nice putttering 4s up front which it has, Saito 82 Hope all is well at Seaton Sluice. Plummet
Another source for this - although it is a distributor for full sized aircraft, (1:1 scale models) and their quantities are quite large... **LINK** Plummet
