Russ P
I'm building a profile fuselage model from a plan converting a control line model to rc. I want to try different engines and therefore don't want to drill the mounting holes directly into the bearer, but would rather mount the engine onto a plate which I can then screw into the mount. I'm sure I've seen this on models, but not sure what materials were used. Any help greatly appreciated.
cymaz
Aluminium or Paxolin
Ernie
Hi Russ, The engine bearers can be made from beech. I'm sure you can get that online, and as Cymaz says paxiline or aly for the mount. The system is very good, as you can easily change engines, thrustlines etc, and the bearers can go right back into the fuselage and so act as reinforcement ernie
cymaz
My old junior 60 used an Ali sheet on beech bears that went into the front formers. When it crashed the bears didn't move, nor did the engine. So the method has a proven track record!
Peter Miller
1/8" Paxolin has the advantages that it will break in a crash. Ali might distort but could still damage the wood.
