Where to fly seaplanes

Recommended Posts

Hello ,

I recently have brought a mc72 float plane and have been flying it off the grass for a while but would really like to try it off water where it belongs, I live in the leicester area and wasn't sure of where you can fly and if there are any additional rules surrounding flying off water.

Thanks ,

Tom

The British Waterplane Association is still going

as are groups up in the Lakes, near the Humber Bridge and over in Cheshire. Getting access to the water is the trick, most water is jealously guarded by the fishing / sailing types.

Flying off water is a joy and I highly recommend that you try it, even if you have to travel

If the "summer" continues like this just wait and there will be plenty of flooded fields to choose from frownit only needs to be a few inches deep.

Seriously it may be worth checking with local sailing clubs for permission to fly from their water.

You could of course move to near one of the sites listed above.

The Reading club flying field is flooded for a week or so most winters (and some summers)
