Dean Hunter
Hi All. I bought a Seagull Skybolt at the Nationals. Lovely plane - good alternative to a Pitts. Its an ARTF that went together well, OS120 2st up front, servos at the back for elevators - balanced as it should. My question is the undercarriage is a neat fix with metal bolts that are well into the fuselage and be really difficult to sort if the Skybolt has a heavy landing... has anybody got any experience of this model? Jack Banner
No experience of this model but I would be tempted to replace those steel bolts with plastic ones. Model fixings will have the right ones.
john stones 1 - Moderator
Sort it before a heavy landing Dean, use some f/glass matting to spread the load and strengthen. John

Luke Lane
With experience gained from my Hanger 9 Christen Eagle, I offer a few tips Buy a carbon undercarriage from Carbon Copy. You may find the one they do for the AcroWot will fit. These are nice and springy, ideal to absorb most bumpy landings. Also replace the hard as iron foam wheels with softer, sponge type wheels from your LMS. Next would be to reinforce the inside of the wheel spats with woven glass cloth and epoxy resin. I carry out these mods with most of my ARTF's and so far all's well after the odd dead stick and running out of landing strip. Happy Landings, Luke. Wingman
Exactly what I did with my Seagull Christen Eagle - but those carbon copy u/c's are not cheap!
