fly boy3
I am fitting a servo to my elevator at rear of the fuz. on a 40 size model. I usually use a Futaba 148, just wondered in these modern time if there an alternative, perhaps smaller, lighter with same torque. Thanks
flight1
The 148 is a tried and tested Standard Precision Servo and stands up to more abuse than its replacements s3003/4 which are afew grams lighter 44.4/37g. there are loads of servos out there now and i would go with a Hitec HS-225 BB Mighty Mini HT at 27grams so a lot lighter and with a bit more torque , there are smaller one out there but i would go for metal geared ones if you choose to go smaller Edited By flight1 on 10/10/2016 19:42:

Ideal for applications that call for a small, lightweight, high speed, high torque servo, the HS-225BB high performance mini servo features a top ball bearing and is built with state-of-the-art SMT technology. Features Full Size Performance in a Mini Package Durable Nylon Gears Top Ball Bearings Perfect for Applications Requiring a Small, Lightweight, High Speed, High Torque Servo
Geoff S
Have a look at the Kpower range at Airtek (advertised on this page). There are ball bearing metal geared minis with the same or higher torque than the bushed plastic geared 148s. I've had a few and had no problems. They centre well, too. Richard Wood
The Airtek & Electricwingman websites are both showing stock of the metal geared HS225MG. Very good servos.

Don Fry
There are high voltage servos available. At 2s lipo voltage, match a 148 at about 25 grammes.
Phil Green
Tower Pro SG5010 is an excellent 148 replacement. Superb build quality, tight gear sets, excellent resolution, like Futaba 148, but more powerful . Cheers Phil
