john stones 1 - Moderator
Days are shorter so why not fit some lights on a model and fly into the evening ? Not as difficult as you would think, choose a suitable model and give it a go, any pictures or tips from those already night flying ? Chris Walby
Half a sheet of Depron, some old servos, spare RX and bring on the darkness! All on 3S 800 so ESC on the power leads and LED's on the balance lead. Photo once I have worked out how to do it!
Chris Walby
And here it is
Chris Walby
IMHO advice as follows: Fly something you are not to fussed if it meets a sticky end. You can throw caution to the wind/have more fun White LED's tend to be very bright compared to others I have used (Blue & Green) so don't use as many Plan where you are going to put the LED's...nothing more exciting that finding that you have caused a viewing angle where none of the LED's are visible... Foam, Depron, EPP models are good Don't use a 2S battery pack...at fully throttle the LED's can go out....How do I know!
Richard Wills 2
Very cool evening looping around the moon was fun. My advice, plane has to be foam. Big mistake is lights are far too bright if you mount them facing out, you will get dazzled. Mount them shining into the foam, that way the whole structure glows. Also, wait until it's properly dark, a lot of folks think it will be easier at dusk, it isn't. Oh and have fun, practicing touch and go's when you can't see the ground is very entertaining. Gary Manuel
A few light can transform some old hack you are ashamed to take out in daylight hours into something that looks like its worth £1,000. PS I prefer to see the naked lights rather than the whole structure but there's lots of ways of doing it.
David Molineux
A guy at our club flew last night with a set of these. Simply outstanding. I've never really thought of night flying before but I was seriously impressed. Dave.
