kc
Welcome to the forum Dazza. W1 is on the plan from Outerzone - its the wing tip and glues to W2 to form the shaped wingtip. Maybe Dazza you are working from a different plan? Ailerons are not shown on the Outerzone (Webster ) plan, but generally ailerons are Vee shaped at front -some are top hinged and shaped differently ( slanted back ) Let us know which plan - Outerzone , Ben Buckle etc and we will try to help more. kc
There is also a version of the plan redrawn by Colin Usher which shows ailerons and I expect just sanding the aileron leading edge to a v is what he intends. Note aileron gap should be minimal to make ailerons more effective. Also aileron wings have less dihedral than non- aileron wings. Make sure of this point when joining wing panels. Personally I prefer the original drawings to the redrawn CAD versions by Usher etc. Tried and tested is preferable and nicer style when handdrawn. kc
John - the ailerons are solid balsa on the Usher plan 1/2 by one and a half inch balsa TE stock. Dazza - the 2 aileron servos as in the Usher plan are preferred so build that but consider how servos are mounted. Have you cut holes in ribs for servo leads?
