Andrew Moore 7
General but basic question (new to hobby):- I'm about to put a different IC engine in one of my models (OS 46 to OS 55). Do I have to worry about thrust angles ? I suppose what my question is really is are there some sort of down/right built into most models (Firewall ?) or all engine mounts ? I will be using a new radial engine mount as the OS 55 wont fit my existing mount. When I look at existing motor/mount it looks fairly straight with little or no down & right thrust already there. Do I need to be concerned ?
Kim Taylor
I'd say if it flew ok as it was, then don't worry, just fit the new engine exactly as the old one came out. Can always be adjusted at a later date, if necessary. Just my opinion, mind - others mileages may vary!!!!!!!!!! Kim
Jon H
most artf models have it all built in for you. Kits/plans tend to have the angle noted and expect you to build it in. In your case with only a small power upgrade i would just leave it alone
J D 8
Easy enough to adjust radial mount if needed with washers between mount and bulkhead. As Kim says though if it was good before leave it alone.
Nigel R
The mount itself will (should!) have no offset or angle. As said, leave existing setup as is, it will be ok.
