ASP FS70 FRONT BEARING

I normally go with whatever is fitted by the manufacturer. Quite often, the front bearing is only sealed on the outside but it's just a case of prising the seal from one side with a sharp pointed implement - same goes for metal shielded bearings.

In my experience, the front bearing is usually OK when a rear bearing is on the way out but I change them anyway as they are inexpensive (when bought from a bearing specialist anyway). I would recommend changing the main bearing while you're at it.

Simply Bearings are my supplier of choice - great prices and reliable next day free delivery. I use C3 clearance bearings which I understand are the best option for engines.

Looking to replace the front bearing on my fs 70. is the bearing a sealed bearing ?

While your at it replace the rear bearing as well. Even tiny amounts of wear will change the valve timing enough to cause a drop in power. Rear bearing wear can be detected by holding prop atop and bottom an rocking back to front it,any play will be felt. Is it  a sealed or sheilded bearing ? Sheilded have a metal cover to prevent dirt from entering bearing while sealed have a rubber coated plate that is a actual seal on the rotating center of the bearing. Only the outer shield or seal is needed . Wash out grease and lubricate with appropriate oil before fitting.

Just replace like for like.

+1 for Simply Bearings.
