Esc calibration with throttle on a switch

Please forgive me for asking what may seem to be a very simplistic question.

I am setting up an F5J type motor glider with the throttle on a switch. This will be the first time I've done such a set up on a motor glider and my question is:

How do I calibrate the throttle? Is it just a case of switch at motor "on" position (like with the stick) and then after the beeps, switch at "off" position?

Yes Steve that is the way to do it - if you think about it that's what you do with a normal throttle stick set up (i.e 100% and 0%). The other thing is that you need to set the ESC up for soft start and brake on if you are using a folding prop.

+1, also if your Tx has a throttle slow that's worth adding some slow so the motor doesn't immediately go to full power, if your Tx does this you should be able to specify the spool up time. My radio does the slow on throttle up but closes the throttle immediately on throttle down.

Thanks Frank. I just checked your suggestion and my DX8 does indeed have a throttle "speed" setting. I've set it for 2 secs for the moment just to see how it behaves when the time comes. Unfortunately the setting also applies to throttling down so perhaps a compromise arrangement will have to be made.
