chris larkins
So they are reducing the price to reflect no VAT, but not telling you that. Ultimately it is a lesson on making sure that you are clear on what it does or doesn't include, and accepting that if it doesn't include the VAT you will have to pay a handling fee to the courier (in this case £12) Edited By chris larkins on 29/01/2021 00:00:
Martin Harris - Moderator
Got it - I selected GBP assuming that would give the UK price. At least they aren't ripping you off then and it doesn't look like they were intentionally trying to mislead you as there is no mention of VAT on this or other non-EU pages. Maybe drop them an email asking them to put something more obvious on the site such as VAT free in the same way the EU pages say VAT incuded. It's a timely reminder that we need to use a little extra care until we and regular suppliers are used to the new regulations. Courier fees are another matter altogether and I suspect that couriers are taking full advantage of the situation and rates generally charged by competitors - typical fees the other way seem to be around half that. Frank Skilbeck
Worth also remembering that the option for the supplier to collect the VAT looks to apply up to £135 and above that it is paid via the shipper by the customer (importer). John Lee
Sorry, but it seemed pretty clear to me when I was on the MotionRC site the other day. First thing I looked at was the Taxes & Duties section where it stated 'Customers outside of the European Union do not pay Value Added Tax on the Motion RC website'. Chris Berry
I just did a mock order on Motion. L39 was showing as €435, but when I went to checkout it was €362.5. Country selected was UK and it does say VAT Europe only. Looks like the difference will be collected by FedEX, so probably not that much more expensive. Jeffrey Cottrell 2
Hi Guys Not very well signed, so I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but Bangood are now offering tariff insurance. Not entirely sure how it works, but on an order I placed recently the fee would have only been £1.56 so silly not to. Details here if you're interested: https://www.banggood.com/Search_hl69_at650 Jeff
