Edgeflyer
On my X20, When using bootloader then plugging in the USB lead to a windows 11 laptop, the laptop gives the message power surge at the usb port, then disables the port. I would expect the X20 is self powered so don't understand. I am able to update firmware by putting the SD card into the laptop but it would be nice to use the direct pc to X20 connection. Andy48
Unless I'm mistaken doesn't the X20 charge through the USB port which would account for the power surge. Also how much current will the Laptop USB port support? Usually one port will supply more.
Andy Stephenson
Early USB 1.0 ports were limited to 500mA later versions went up to 2 Amps. Could this be the problem if you have an older laptop.
Edgeflyer
Running windows 11 in a 2 year old ms surface pro. The recommended way to update is to use the usb port. So it presumably should work. Maybe I will try when the tx is fully charged.
Engine Doctor
I'm not a techy type but thought I'd just mention the instructions on my Garmin Sat Nav . It has two leads supplied with it one is for charging the other is for data teansfer ie updates. Could your equipment be the same ? Just a thought.
