Sad news, but even sadder that men and women of such calibre are more or less completely unknown to the current younger generation obsessed with vacuous celebrities - no names, no pack drill regarding the latest pair that are milking the system for every penny and ounce of publicity they can get. J D 8 Posted December 8, 2022 Share Posted December 8, 2022 Johnson was bomb aimer for Lancaster T- TOMMY flown by American Joe McCarthy one of only two aircraft to attack the Sorpe dam, an earth bank concreate core structure. The bomb was not bounced but dropped on the crest while flying along it. McCarthy's aircraft made nine run's at the target in very poor misty conditions before Johnson dropped the upkeep right on target.
