A couple of years ago I was at a local field and won a new unopened Disco kit.

 

I finally made a start the other day and progressed quite well

 

I can’t decide if I should go electric or the traditional stinky glow motor route

 

I’ve used UHU por and epoxy glues 

 

Covered in brown paper with wallpaper paste

You get all you need in the kit

A pleasant change from the normal kit build,

How did you cut round the outline of the "pilot" ? Hot wire? Old white foam is pretty crumbly stuff!

I had one of these many moons ago......a great fun model which was very popular being so radical!.

 

However, with an OS .25 / tank / servos of the time (large / heavy), it was a bit of a flying brick.

 

If I had to build one again, it would be electric, keeping it as light as conceivably possible.

 

At the time, there was a glut of these early foamy models, another one was the the "Stratos", designed I think by Hanno Prettner.

 

Sliding servo tray as there was no computer mixing as such, went well until I went inverted and the 4 cell 600mah Nicad pack fell out!.

 

Great seeing pictures like this. Funny how I can remember the finest details of models I built in 70's to date, ...............but I can't remember what I did yesterday.

I glued a picture to one side and used a scroll saw to cut it out

I thought it might crumble but it was ok

Somebody flew one of these at the Bridgend show, it had a profile of Boddo with a real glass of "brandy" (his favourite tipple) perched in front of him. The glass had clingfilm over it to stop it spilling.

If you go slower you get a better cut
