MikeQ
Hello Is this possible? Joining two sheets of Oracover (transparent) over an open wing structure a bit like this pic I dragged off the internet. i tried years ago as a kid with Solarfilm (1/4”) overlap but was a miserable failure. cheers mike
Martin Harris - Moderator
I would use some Prymol and ensure the join overlaps in the correct (trailing) direction. Preferably make joins over sheet or ribs but maybe not possible on your example where you would rely mostly on point contact over the ribs. John Muir
Are you sure that's Oracover? I imagine that finish would be easier achieved with coloured tissue and paint applied over a laminating film base.
Don Fry
I think that’s some clever airbrushing, the French blue, sprayed over the bog green. The colour ways repeat, on the fusalage. Very nice.
MikeQ
Hi Don think your right. I actually played around with Google search and came across the very model. I knew it was an F2B type ... half way down this page. http://flyinglines.org/Favorite planes.html lol, i thought it had to be just about impossible to join Oracover or any other film like that over open bays but worth asking. mike
Andy Stephenson
There's a post on this somewhere on RCG. It was done by ironing the film overlap somehow before applying it to the airframe. It has definitely been done but it needs great care and practice.
