Neddy
My foam plane needs to have some decals removed a lot are coming off. But it's leaving a sticky glue on the surface. What can I use to get rid of this muck without dissolving the foam

Andy Stephenson
WD40 is a good solvent for most sticky adhesives.
leccyflyer
You might also have good results with some gentle heat from a covering iron to reduce the amount of sticky residue in the first place. The solution to removing that is also going to depend on how you intend to refinish the model after their removal. Lemon oil is a good ingredient for removing the sticky residue of removed sticky labels, but I'm not sure how that would respond to subsequent repainting or refinishing - perhaps the same for WD40. I tend to opt for the gentle approach, using Isopropanol at first and then swapping to methylated spirits for the second attempt, white spirit is as strong as I go over foam. None of those will harm the foam, as opposed to acetone, which will eat many types of foams.
