AlanJ
HELP Is anybody able to help identify this item. Not sure what it is used for. Is it an onboard glow driver ?
Martin Harris - Moderator
The wiring suggests a brushed speed controller but I haven’t seen one without its heat shrink to confirm it.
kevin b
My usual approach to items like this is to remove any components I can identify and possibly use and bin the rest. Chances are it probably won't work anyway.
Engine Doctor
Looks like the arming switch used on early glider like the Flair Electra Fly. These typically flew with a 540 or 600 brushed motor. Press button and motir woukd srart . Hand launch glider and motor would run until battery was low then cut the motor you then had enough battery to glide your model. FlyinFlynn
I think ED is on the right lines, it looks to me like the NEC B772 PNP transistor is across the push button, there is a LM339 quad comparator that is often used as a timer and a 6Amp mosfet in series with the negative supply. Once the push button is activated, the transistor holds the device on until the timer disables the transistor which turns the mosfet off..... however, there also appears to be a PWM input so perhaps the device is controllable from the transmitter also? Just a guess mind! Connect it up and see what happens to the magic smoke! 💭
