David Ashby - Moderator
Is anyone going radio control model flying this weekend?
Ben Mullins
I blumin well hope so! I havnt been flying since 31st December, GGGGGRRRRR. I managed to break the tail of my new E-Pioneer the other week while testing the motor, so all that has been fixed, but now need to find a 12X6 prop and prop adapter by Sunday! In the mean while the instructor said he'd try and get the club trainer up and running, tis I.C. (that will be a first for me) and has got Correx Stabilisers! Martin Harris - Moderator
Is anyone going radio control model flying this weekend? What a silly question! Dahn Sarf we don't let 7 inches of snow stop us so this weekend should be a doddle...'er indoors willing of course.

Martin Harris - Moderator
In answer to the question, yes and it was a brilliant day. Pleasantly warm, negligable wind and still enough snow left to keep skis employed on a growing number of models!
David Ashby - Moderator
Mode 4!! hmm maybe not then. Cold today and it clouded over by 1pm but we had a good session, no wind too, can't be bad.

Doug Ireland
Bahh! I'm still stuck on an oil rig in Gabon!
Martin Harris - Moderator
Surprisingly (for the most part) the skis rode over the footprints (bomb craters) very well. Luckily, most were aligned across the runway rather than along it. Looks like we'll be back on wheels in the near future, though...
David Ashby - Moderator
Sounds like fun Martin, would the skis also work on wet grass? Doug - an oil rig!! surely you just need some floats then?
Martin Harris - Moderator
Yes, I'm sure they would. I was taxying over some patches of grass yesterday quite successfully.
Martin Harris - Moderator
Update to David's question: I tried them yesterday and they worked surprisingly well on what I would call "sticky" grass. There was certainly a noticeable retardation when doing slide and goes but it taxied and manouevred OK and I could still do the long high(ish) speed slides - but without the marvellous scrunchy slithering snow sound. I suspect flying from properly wet grass would work rather well. Of course, having a comfortably better than 1:1 thrust to weight ratio didn't hurt!
