Jonathan Lewzey
does anyone know when this is due to arrive in the UK? I've decided i need one and as soon as possible. The lipos seem to be 150mAh 12C. Would it give a decent performance on 138mAh 10C if i bought the PNP version and some of the cheap flightmax cells from Hobbyking or will i have to buy the BNF version? Tim Mackey
Doesnt matter which version you buy - if you use the 150mah cell, it will be slightly better than if use the 138mahr cell. Doubt there will be much difference TBH
Jonathan Lewzey
still enough power to prop hang? by my calculations, the 150mAh cell has about an extra 30% more in combined C rating and capacity
Tim Mackey
The C rating is only relevant if its likely to be reached, and capacity only helps duration.Just buy 'em, and if they dont cut the mustard, use em in the Vapors, MCX etc
Jonathan Lewzey
right, i've found it at TJD for £61.99 so as soon as it stops saying due soon how soon is soon though
Tim Mackey
It might be worth trying to establish exactly what sort of current these things are pulling before you buy a significant amount of the lower C cells. My caveat of of C rate being important only if actually likely to be reached still stands, but of course, the design of the model and motor combo may well be such that the cell is working at max C or near.Edited By Timbo - Administrator on 29/12/2009 17:50:
Jonathan Lewzey
trouble is where do you find data on how much power the power system uses on a RTF model with pre matched components? i can't find any info on power or expected flight time. Tim Mackey
Its probably too new Jonathan. Give it a month or two after release and you can bet your life the data will be around, along with the modifications, bling, and hop ups etc.You could try Horizon Hobby direct - they may release the data.A club-mate has flown the prototype at the recent indoor masters comp - and he tells me its a great little model, and will be fine on non standard cells. To quote him on our club website in response to a query from someone who was planning to have some of the 138m/a cells which I am shortly receiving in bulk.... Jonathan Lewzey
thanks for your help timbo, i've decided to go for the BNF as its a ready made package and i've no idea how long hobbyking could take on the delivery. I'm planning to order some other bits from there to convert my funtanaX50 to electric too and haven't finallised what i'm getting yet. Chris Card
I seem to remember reading that Horizon had updated the eta on this model to mid-January. Let's hope it doesn't slip further.

Chris Card
I would imagine all shops will be in the same boat, awaiting stock from Horizon which will hit all the shops on the same day. Phoning around will probably only reveal who is the most optimistic reseller

Tim Mackey
Flew one at our indoor meeting last night - not very well I hasten to add, as this 3d crazy indoor stuff is not really my thing However, our club Stig threw it about as it was designed for, and it looks the bees knees. Surprisingly noisy though - but very tough as it "arrived" more than once in some very odd attitudes, and survived almost unscathed
Barnesyboy
One thing i noticed last night that i didnt at the Indoor masters, posibly due to it being a smaller hall, was how sencitve it is on the COG, get it to far back and the tail becomes very lively, but it was very agile and great fun, Mine has arived today so mywell be flown in the workshop this afternoon BB P.S Im sure Rich will love being compared to the stig

Barnesyboy
Just flown mine, The one i flew last night had the drag brakes on these seem to make it quite slugish (for me anyway) the one i flew at EMI didnt have them and i didnt fit them to mine. The brakes really seem to hurt the climb out when in the hover so if thats your bag id leve them off, also you will need all the Ali avaiible to stop it touqe rolling, but if you just let it go round its very controlable, Be carfull on the rudder to its very pitchey on KE you really dont need alot BB

Barnesyboy
Yes it will, you just have to be carfull on the exit with the rudder as to not pitch the nose up to high BB P.S the click will do it fine, secret is to keep the power on on the down line to hold the momentum
Jonathan Lewzey
i thought it probably would, just a bit cautious as its quite a new model. Maybe if i'm feeling brave on saturday...
