    Electric Cars.

interesting thread. apparently electric cars require a lot less servicing so it makes sense they will hold there value for longer. some company will probably make a fortune from less well of households buy selling cars at small monthly payments with high interest just like the bright house business model. I wonder if a car will come on the market with interchangeable batteries so a battery swap can be done mid journey to avoid waiting for a charges. whether you like them or not they seem to be the future choice of power with Volvo already announcing the are switching production to electric only. I wonder what happened to hydrogen power, bio fuels and quite a few other seemingly promising alternatives they
  2. However I had no problems with the standard u/c on my pulse
  3. It will be an imperial thread. What I prefer to do in this situation is to knock out the blind nuts and replace them with a metric nuts. 5mm it a good choice and then you can use plastic bolts from slec. Edited By Phil 9 on 10/12/2017 11:04:35

  5. I did try a WW1 sim called Rise of Flight I did enjoy it for a but got frustrated and gave up on it because my pc was not up to the job of running it properly, looking online I found some people really go to town on a flight sim setup with cockpit recreations and multi screen setups. even head movement tracking that adjust you view as you look left or right. a complete hobby in its own right

Flying at that speed you could get to the flying field, have half a dozen flights, and be back home to the domestic chores within the hour. from car boot to take off my acro wot is faster
  7. no EDF fans lovers here?   Edited By Phil 9 on 21/10/2017 17:14:08
  8. I was a little disappointed with the free plan to be honest (maybe we have just been spoiled in recent years). the hawk is more sport scale than anything and the pointer to hobbyking equipment made me think I would be better of with the hobbyking airframe to go with it especially when you look at the price of vac formed parts for the build Edited By Phil 9 on 20/10/2017 15:29:05
  9. I guess it is like F1 rules. New technology has no rules stopping it untill someone decides in the interest of sport it is no longer aloud

  12. I have a futaba 8fg the first time mine broke I bought a replacement and fitted it myself . The second time the spares were oos everywhere I tried so I remounted the aerial inside the tx and it's been there ever since Edited By Phil 9 on 28/09/2017 13:49:17
  13. Just buy a Sullivan tail wheel or something similar and make it steerable
  14. from another thread disscussing the new Hanger 9 10cc valiant arf I noticed a large price difference. US price $250 about 187 pounds UK price £299 so nearly 300 pound for a high wing 60 size sport model make me think building your own is now potentaly a cheaper option Edited By Phil 9 on 27/09/2017 11:35:39
  15. Posted by Piers Bowlan on 27/09/2017 06:10:09: Als Hobbies have got it here for £299 (pre-order) in case anyone is wondering. Horizon Hobbies have more images here. Edited By Piers Bowlan on 27/09/2017 06:15:39 $249.99 US = £299.00 Sterling ? looks like a nice model though
  16. Posted by Steve Colman on 26/09/2017 06:40:28: I had a trim switch break on my DX6i many moons ago and it was a well known weak point back then. Luckily for me it didn't result in the loss of a model. Horizon sent me two new switches completely free without any fuss. How things change. I had this happen an I replaced all the trim switches with an after marked meatal upgrade.

The earlier you can ingrain safety habits the better...trying to get septuagenarians who've grown up with IC models to handle electric models safely is a source of constant frustration! Alternatively, build an IC trainer... he is 7 almost eight. He is well behaved around models and I remind him at every visit of the dangers and club rules. so far its been great. His safety is obviously my priority but second to that I want to enhance his experience and make it as enjoyably for him as I can. At this point this seems to be best served by allowing him to do as much for himself as I can whilst keeping him safe
  18. that jeti switch is what I'm after but it a little expensive
  19. I was thinking of a physical cut off controlled through the tx sort of along the lines of the opto kill switch on petrol engines. my young son comes with me to the field and is now having a go on the buddy lead, but he likes to run out to the model after landing. I have to stop him and isolate tx battery before allowing him to bring the model back to the pitts. If I could remotely make the model safe I could allow him a little more freedom to play
