  1. I'm being rather cheeky, but I've asked permish first.... I’m trying to help raise money to take some children from a deprived area in Warrington to Boston to Harvard, MIT and other interesting places for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) visit, and I thought MF members would think it was a good cause (more than my friends do, who I've already asked). I’ve promised to make a postcard for anyone from the PP forum who donates, and I would do the same for anyone from here for you, and I’d make something MF ish rather than girly. This isn't my children's school but my daughter attends their free Coderdojo sessions each month, where children can learn CAD, programming, laser cutting, 3d printing, drone flying, lego robotics and more. These children have been selected to visit these exciting institutions, and many can't afford the trip without significant financial help. So, I would like to share the link for fund raising, and anyone who donates 50p or more will be rewarded (or not) by a fabric postcard made by me. On Popular Patchwork, we would normally make a raffle quilt, but I haven't time, but I thought this idea might raise a tiny bit. You'll need to PM me to tell me that you've donated though, as I won't know otherwise, obviously I don't want to know how much you donate or anything, just your address to send a postcard to. I am only asking my ladies, and you and Model Engineering, as I thought you might find it interesting. This is the link to donate, And this is a bit about the project... We are students from Beamont Collegiate Academy in Warrington. Our school is a centre of Excellence for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. We are the only high school in the UK to hold the prestigious STEM assured quality mark. However, our school is in one of the most deprived areas in the country. In September we will travel to Boston, USA for an inspirational, aspiration-raising working trip to look at the best STEM facilities in the World. The money you donate will support those children who could not afford to take this opportunity without financial help. We have been handpicked for our outstanding ability in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and we will be immersed in the world of STEM for 8 days. We will be working with: Harvard University, the worlds foremost STEM university, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) , Engineers from the global company iRobot and Lowell, who developed the Mars rover. Marine Biologists to study Ecology in the north Atlantic Ocean. We have been endlessly trying to raise the £10,000 needed for this trip. The school is generously supporting us and so far we've held bake sales, assisted shoppers with their packing at weekends, ran our own café during Coderdojo events at the academy and organised draws to win a number of hampers. The opportunity for us as students to make this trip is truly life changing but now we need help to raise the remaining money needed. Any donations from 50p to £500 will help ensure the brightest of futures for our students and provide Warrington with a wealth of scientists, engineers and mathematicians in the future. We thank you in advance for your generosity and look forward to sharing the experiences of our trip with you. And as this is the Cafe, I'm posting my favourite aircraft (real not model) related song. It's a bit electronic, but you never know, you might like it anyway!
  2. Hi Geoff I'm sorry the archive doesn't work on all tablets, usually because it uses Flash, and some android tablets don't support it. You may be able to download the Puffin browser, and use that to get around the problem. Thanks Katy
  3. Hi Peter I'm afraid I assumed this was a notification problem, it does seem very odd that this could be happening, as the PM's themselves are just text in the database. Please can I have your permission to have a look at your PMs themselves? I wouldn't normally do that, but I will be able to trace a problem if there is one if I do. The PM notification system is exactly the same as the forum posts notification, which is definitely a problem where @modelflying.co.uk emails are blacklisted, and the only way to fix that is to ask your email provider to add them to the whitelist, and add the same email address to your safe list. This has not fixed the issue for Danny yet, but I am trying to sort that out if I can. The emails are 100% being sent from here, they are just not arriving in your inboxes. Thanks Katy
  4. I'm keeping an eye on this, I think it is a good idea to remember and keep a members posts intact in a nice and respectful way I just wanted to add that you can set a status to say "Away" or whatever as a little note. You can set that in the 'MyFriends' box with your avatar
  5. Sorry Chris, it's not you, it's just the list is quite long, so occasionally things get bumped up if you ask when I'm inbetween jobs, which doesn't happen very often at all!
  6. I'll delete my image so it doesn't clutter up your albums and latest images, and go and play with some settings in IE11 on the test server. I'll post back here with my results later
  7. Please excuse the non flying image, but that just worked for me in IE11. I don't have compatibility on.
  8. Pete, can you just try those again for me?
  9. I get the same, it is timing out trying to load all the threads for the topic. I'm trying to fix it now
  10. **LINK** I'm sorry that you are having problems, we have upgraded the text editor precisely because this version allows us to fix the problems that members were having with IE. There are a great number of browsers out there, and it is impossible to test for every single one, but I have tested the new editor in as many as I can and not found any further problems. The previous version of the editor worked in most browsers but had a few problems in IE, which should now be fixed. All the websites have been upgraded to this version on Tuesday last week, and most members were able to use it without clearing their cache. You don't need to change your browser unless you want to. Personally, I prefer to use Chrome or Firefox, but I understand that particularly on work PCs, you may be restricted to IE anyway. This version should work much better on IE now. Clearing your cache really should solve all the problems you have experienced, as your browser will then be using all the correct files rather than any previous ones. This applies to whatever browser you use at the moment. If you do install a new browser, it won't hold any cached pages, so it will automatically be using the correct files. If you don't know how to clear your cache, please look at the link above. If you don't know what browser you are using, have a look at the Help/About tab on the container window for this page. I can't comment on why the other websites are better for uploading photos, but if you store your photos externally on a site like Photobucket, you can use the image icon next to the camera to post them here.
  11. Hi Erfolg, You use the same method as before, but the links are at the top (In the burgundy bar) not the side. Albums for photos, and Forums, which will be renamed to My Posts tomorrow for your postings Edited By Katy Purvis on 11/07/2013 17:46:11
  12. No, Sorry Dylan, I was asked to remove that. I find it very useful though, I will try to re-negiotiate tomorrow
  13. Cymaz, Antiquated and BEB, which browser(s) are you using, as I can't see the ad problem in any of mine? I'm not doubting you, I just want to fix it
  14. I'll change the name of forums at the top and I'm working on lots of bits, including the red
  15. Hi Ken No it can't be related, but it does sound a bit worrying. Please could you send me a screenshot? Would you please press Ctrl Alt PrntScr, and then paste it into an email to [email protected]. I will try to find out what it is, I don't want to change anything if there is a separate problem. When one of my Popular Patchwork ladies had a survey pop up last year, it was because she had installed a strange addon to her browser, either in error or via a malicious page. What browser are you using, was it IE? Thanks Katy
  16. Posted by WolstonFlyer on 10/07/2013 16:43:21: There is some handy information on resetting your browser cache here **LINK** In short, on the Windows operating system pressing Control+F5 should do the trick Windows: ctrl + F5 Mac/Apple: Apple + R or command + R Linux: F5 Please read and take note of the above, as I am hoping to switch to the new stylesheet this morning. Please can I assure you that this change is to bring all the websites in line with the same layout, and make them a little more modern. It isn't about changing functionality at the moment. It is essentially cosmetic, and none of us are making any money out of the change. I hope you will like it, or at least warm to it eventually!
  17. I promise that blip yesterday was completely unrelated to the new site layout, which will be arriving shortly. Sometimes when we make layout changes there are a few users who see a mismash of the current and previous styles. If this happens to any of you, it's because your old stylesheet has been cached by your browser. If you clear your browser then it should all line up correctly. This is just for info, as a few of the lovely and not at all awkward Patchwork ladies struggled with browser issues when we swapped the website layout recently.
  18. And then a great song comes along! It was PG's birthday this week too
  19. I'm just popping in to the cafe, cos I thought some of you might like to see this I saw this today, and despite the fact I can't stand Heart, it made me cry!
  20. Yikes, I've just realised where you are! Would you like me to phone you?
  21. Hi Barry, it doesn't sound quite right. Would you like to phone me and we could go through exactly what's happening?
