  1. Why the insulation, lads? Insulate from what? IanR
  2. Nigel, this could be an incidence problem. Have a look at Stevo's thread here **LINK** Ian
  3. Nigel I had exactly the same problem - it was so bad that I gave up on it. When you say you solved the issue with 14 clicks of up trim, did you really mean down trim? Ian

  5. Hello Alan, I feel the same as you and am loathe (read - scared) to switch to OTX 2.2 when it took ages for me to set things up with 2.1.9. However, I have just downloaded Companion 2.2.1, which can run alongside the older 2.1.9 version, and will use it with copies of my eepe files to try and familiarise myself with it before I take the plunge and put 2.2 on my transmitter. (not being able to change gain levels at the field is a real pain in the backside) Ian
  6. Not hi-jacking the thread, but may I ask - does the new firmware with Quick Mode require OpenTX 2.2 or will it run with OpenTX 2.1.9, which is what I am still using? Thanks, Ian.
  7. Would something like this do? **LINK** Ian

I've missed something - what is "Quick mode"? ian

  11. Whilst pealing and chopping, for SWMBO, I realised that, by leaning on the kitchen worktop, the spuds and wotnot were perfectly in focus via my reading glasses. When I cobbled a workshop together I put in a small area at desktop height which is good for sitting against when, say, soldering but my main building board area is at kitchen worktop height where I stand and lean. Either way I can focus perfectly on the job in hand. I think that getting the working area in focus is the main thing. Ian
  12. Eagle - I had trouble with my S6R config prog not recognising the configuration of my RX and then I couldn't tell if the original configuration hadn't been set properly or if the program wasn't reading it properly. I tried many things over a few days and gave up. I downloaded the S8R configuration program for use with my S6R RX and now everything is OK. If I were you I would try the same and stop pulling your hair out trying to figure a way round the problem with the S6R configuration program. Ian
  13. Pete - are you using your mouse wheel to zoom in and out?
  14. Perhaps the Gymstar **LINK** but I'm not sure if its still available. If you are interested, Electricwingman list it as out of stock. Perhaps they could advise on availability. Ian
  15. Hello Steve, Based on the advice, above, I now ignore the capacity percentage and look only to achieve 3.75 to 3.85 volts per cell which both of my RC6-VSPs give me. Everything appears to be OK so I'm happy. Ian
  16. Trebor - I put some strips of the hook side of self-adhesive Velcro down the back of my Taranis where my fingers go and its rough surface gives me a very good non-slip grip. I hold the sticks between forefinger and thumb and wrapped some Velcro around the sticks. Again, it gives me a very good grip on the sticks and I find I don't need to grip the sticks so tightly. Ian
  17. Thanks, Kevin. I've ordered a couple. Ian
  18. I can see I need to get an/some ammo boxes. There hasn't been an ex army surplus type store near me for 40 years or more. I've seen some on t'internet but would ask if anyone can point me at a particularly good buy - both for practicality and price. Thanks. Ian
  19. Yup - typical router work. 95% of the time setting up and 5% of the time actually routing. Very neat work and, yes, blooming good for 1.5 days. Is that a 1/2" router you're using? Ian
  20. What sort of router set-up, Stevo? Did you feed the spars in by hand/eye or did you have some sort of alignment jig? The slots look really clean and straight. Bookmarked. Ian

    S6R receivers

Thanks Denis and Bob for the technical advice. Since a replacement antenna is only a couple of quid or so I think I'll end up just replacing them, complete, rather than trying a repair. Unfortunately, the tabs which connect the antenna to the pcb inside the receiver are also a smaller size which means having to continue using these new antennae rather than up-grading to the older, thicker antennae. However, I may complain strenuously to T9 in the hope that it gets back to Frsky. The extra thin antennae on this receiver are a joke. Frsky have made a serious blunder in changing from the previous, very adequate, antennae to these extremely fragile new ones. I have only bought 2 x S6Rs at this time - I wonder if the S8R will also have these new super-delicate antennae. Its a shame because, for a very little extra cost, I think most folk would prefer to buy these receivers instead of "standard" receivers but at the moment I would suggest that they are "not fit for purpose" Ian Edited By IanR on 16/06/2017 11:21:46
