Traplet plans service
Andy Green replied to bruce batten's topic in R/C Retailers / Distributors / Manufacturers
Where have you been Bruce? There are a few threads on this (mostly locked) have a search. Andy Edited By Andy Green on 24/08/2017 16:47:15 -
We are in the same position in the Worcestershire countryside, and have to use a company call Airband. We can get 20Mb down which is plenty for our use. The service works well, when it works. For example they use remote relay stations to connect the network, and when the nights draw in, they didn't have enough battery to keep the UPS running over night. And it took a while to sort out. over 2 years. Check the SLA smaller companies cant respond as quickly, we have not had a connection all weekend - it dropped Friday after they all went home and its only just come back. That said we have no other options and they know it. Andy

DB Sport/Scale Ali spinner troubles
Andy Green replied to Tim Kearsley's topic in All Things Model Flying
Hi Tim Had a similar issue with the A frame as you call it - couldn't get it to balance. I changed it to a more traditional approach with a threaded bar tapped to the engine crank shaft one end and the I think M5 the other to afix the spinner Andy -

Don't let your clubmates throw RCME away!
Andy Green replied to kc's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
I'd have thought that the more recent plans will be on CAD on an RCM&E server somewhere. Andy -
John - I have an NGH 25 petrol 2s. Origonal I think has a CRRC 26cc. Hi Bob, 10 screws for wings and U/C not assembled at patch yet, but take about 10 mins in the workshop. No rigging to worry about. A

Hi Where are you?, if near Worcester, I can help. Andy -
Thank you Tony. As yet unflown. Still the radio install to do, and the odd detail to add, like the headrest. A

Puffin Models is Up and Running!
Andy Green replied to John Emms 1's topic in R/C Retailers / Distributors / Manufacturers
To be fair this does cut both ways. There are a number of threads talking about great service. With a balance of good and bad companies, customers can make an informed choice. Andy -
I'm planning on coming, but with Cosford on Saturday it will depend on getting everything prep'd in time. Andy

Mechanical switches are point of failure, and with so many fakes and poor ones out there I have over the past few years moved away from mechanical and uses these Hall effect ones. Rated at 20A and fail to on, they do give peace of mind. That said I've never experienced a switch fail. Andy

This article might help with plan printing. Andy

Have to agree, a slow starter, but once you are into it, you are hooked. League of Gentlemen was the last one like that for me. Also saw the similarity to our hobby. A

M2 threads on piano wire
Andy Green replied to Richard Walton's topic in Model Engineering and Accessories
If the slop is in the Z bend, you can run some CA into the joint, once dry it will easily free up and you have what is a a CA bearing with no slop. I solder a clevis to one end and only have 1 screw end for adjustment. No need to have to screw ends. Andy -
To be honest I quite enjoyed myself, LM show is always a low key event in my mind, but being the first in the season I look forward to going. Had an ice cream, a rummage around the Saturday swap meet, bought everything I needed and a catch up with friends so a thumbs up for me. Could have done with a bar though. Nik Johnson is improving and will continue to do the more shows he does, I think this is his second fixed wing show (Last years Ragley being the first). Don't forget DB was doing it for 50 years. Would have been nice to have a warbirds slot, but if the pilots with the models don't attend then that that. The fun figher slot always entertains. I too suspect this will be the last year of the show, and a real shame. Andy

I was just passing - for future reference, you want the homepage & look for RCM&E Extra towards the bottom on the left. Andy

Cocktail stick through mylar hinge
Andy Green replied to DavidKP's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Don't spoil your model with cocktale sticks, use pins. insert until you can feel the mylar, snip off with 1mm proud, and push in. almost invisible. This article shows you how. Andy -
Hi OG - I've sent you a PM. Andy

Cant beat a Victoria Sponge. All in one bowl, none of this creaming fat and sugar. Often take on to the patch to make friends. Andy

I like to read the BMFA News, probably because I have tried Free Flight / Control Line in my youth. Its designed to inform more than entertain I think and Manny always has an interesting column on what going on, with insurance reminders and the work they are doing behind the scenes. Personally I'd be happy paying an additional £5, to support the NFC. Andy
