  1. Hi 2,6. I didn't like the very basic finish of the plan wing tips so I designed ones to control tip vortices and make it look pretty. I have never been good at stretching iron on coverings around delicate wing tips. I can always make wrinkles ! It is nice and stable in the gusty winds here but may be it is stable with the plan wing tips, I don't know.
  2. I came back to model flying about three years ago. I went electric and obtained most of my escs, motors and LiPos from Purple power. I have operated the batteries in accordance with George's LiPo data sheet and never had a problem with them......apart from destroying the occasional one in a major collision with the ground. A good reliable charger is a must though. The sheets are available to download, free of charge (oops, a pun), from the purple power web site. 3. Our Site owner does not allow Multi-rotor flying or any form of aerial photography. We don't have any members who fly multi rotor but the FW FPV guys must be careful to not record any of their flying.
  4. No Guys, I don't think you quite understand the concept of FPV.
  5. No,no, Alexa. I don't want to look like you. or, Number Five (alive) says "stop taking the Mickey....."
  6. Just a thought. Maybe the pivot point needs to be forward of the centre of pressure, even at the maximum deflection. You can imagine that if the centre of lift moved ahead of the pivot, aerodynamic force would make the movement divergent in that the force would cause the control deflection to increase with dire consequences. Clearly it is also true that if the centre of pressure is too far behind the pivot then large control loading would occur at higher speeds and deflection. It's my opinion that the pivot should be a small amount ahead of maximum C of P. Also, don't forget that at lower speeds all surfaces on the dear old Bucc were blown with engine bleed air to energise the airflow. (Boundary layer control BLC) You may wish to slightly increase the tailplane area to allow scale approach speeds. Thinks " I wonder if we could set up piping to allow BLC on a model". hmmmm!
  7. my five year old DX7s will automatically bind to a DSM2 or DSMX Rx without me doing anything apart from running the bind programme. Eventually I only operated on DSMX. I have just sold it to a guy (in EU Mainland) with a number of DSM2 Rx with which it works seamlessly. Hope this helps.
  8. I'll need my tennis racquet with me from now on I suppose.
  9. Hi everyone. I contacted Sarik about the ability to obtain old Traplet plans. I was looking for the old Chris Golds TSR2 plan. They could not have been more helpful. They warned that as the plans were printed to order it would take two to three weeks. That's fine with me. I ordered the plan and laser cut woodpack. The whole lot arrived, wonderfully packed in three days. Many thanks to the team for excellent service at a competitive price. Also included was a copy of the original magazine article and a step by step construction guide. That's the winter build sorted! Their new web site is up and running. Take a look!
  10. For an easy to transport and fun to fly machine I use a Max-thrust Lightning.
  11. Hi, I had my own workshop on my farm. For my models I use a tiny HVLP gravity spray gun with this big compressor. It is a 50 litre reservoir and a 2Hp compressor. I guess I'm not much help as I think most other modelling types tend to use little desk top compressors for their airbrush kits. Have a look on-line at the airbrush company. You'll get a feel for what is available (and affordable) Good luck with your project(s).
  12. you can buy a nice set of screwdriver handled adjusting sockets for that carb. Very similar to the McCulloch I owned.
  13. Success today. Maidened my just completed electric Cliffwhacker. CofG a bit forward but that's safe for now. A bit of elevator trim up required but no aileron or rudder trim needed - a first for me. Flaps - no problem Camber (flaps and flaperons) - no problem Crow - huge nose up lurch. I'll mix in some crow v down elevator Lovely model Mr Whitaker. It glides forever so crow is a must for landing at our strip! Not a scratch. Happy now. (Pictures in Cliffwhacker posts)
  14. Low Kv motor with a small high speed prop.
  15. blasted Wabbit holes in the grass. Sorry about the repeat but my Wots Wot found one when landing.....nosed over boo. Edited By Dane Crosby on 19/09/2017 20:51:10
  16. No, you can't use the Tx to fix a binding tailgate!
  17. Look, it is not your nano quad, its a butterfly!
  18. Forgot to say that it has an eight channel DSMX system with full telemetry too.
  19. Finished !!! Cliffwhacker GT A very nice flyer. (write-up in Cliffwhacker section)
  20. Hi All, I have finished my Cliffwhacker and have made minor mods to the plan. Due to the gusty buffeting winds here in North Cornwall I sheeted the entire wing I made thick section winglets from builders foam covered in glass tissue and Poly C It is designed as a power assisted glider, not a hotliner. It has a tiny 6x4 folder prop powered by a 2200kv motor which has 60 seconds max at 220w and 180w continuous on 3c 1800 or 2200. Three flight modes, normal, thermal (variable camber) and crow. Just lovely to fly, thank you mr Whitaker.
