  3. Posted by Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 28/11/2013 18:43:22: I must admit that at first I didn't like foam models much. What converted me was the PZ Extra. That model is indestructable! I know - I've tried! Once I was in a "spin 'till you die" comp with it - and the inevitable happened I just pushed it too far - 22, 23, 24, 25,....recover, Ohhhh very near the ground big pull out,...she flicked and in she went - BANG! Fuselage had a broken back, elevator had ripped loose, as had the wing mounting and the undercarriage. The front looked like a bulldog! Bit of the hot water treatment to re-expand the foam, some surgery with the cocktail sticks and epoxy and it was all back together - 30 minutes work - top whack. And it flew fine afterwards! Amazing. There is a lot to be said for that level of convience - especially in a day-to-day hack. BEB 25 that's embarrassing b.e.b. get throws increased n move c.g. back.
  4. don't use servo tray supplied fit servos last to help you with c.g. (move forwards) battery in tank bay, should be fine (may need a little lead) wont need flaps, will land a treat
  5. club competition days (touch n go, limbo etc). magic, laughing all day. monthly meetings outdoors, take orders for chippy. (not been rained off all year) better attended, bit of flying, still get business done, guests welcome, new members.
  6. not that great with electric stuff bob, just wondered why use 3cell on ic ? seems like another link in the chain that could fail
  7. Posted by Simon B on 08/12/2013 22:21:31: I've happily used 3S packs without a separate receiver pack and never had a problem in 7 years of flying. on a model with a glow engine in?
  8. you confuse me bandit, 1000 foots too high and you want to impose return to home. regulations have just been relaxed, get yourself off flying
  9. read your profile out of curiosity phil you've too much time on your hands you should get yourself a hobby
  10. you don't need a woodpack nigel, if you've already built a junior sixty, building a high wing funfly will be a doddle for you. will suit electric well also.
  11. I think you'll find they are not actually tree's they are ambush's
  12. how about a different angle? we've never had it so good play your lp's at home roger , cd's for your car. if your club has 50 members, must be lots of 35 gear available, just try asking at your field. edf's are fine on 35mgz, so are petrols, if your having problems its your installation enjoy your flying, listen your favourite album on way home
  13. yes nigel loads, spacewalker is a good intro to low wingers,i think sig do a nice kit. its a nice looker and very forgiving to fly. tucano's look and fly great, bit of a step up from a junior 60 though. have you considered going to a 4 channel high winger as the next step? again there are loads to choose from
  14. I think its great. very rare you clash on peg board now. see rx's and xtals for sale quite often at price they are offered at you could stock up with some extras im still using a jr 9x best box I've ever held. I also like the ariel, bit of ribbon on, use to check on wind
  15. profilm is superb and very strong, also a great range of colours your solartex should stick to sheeted surfaces, put soft brush on hoover make sure its dust free
  16. I wouldn't fret about it im sure you'll cope with either
  17. I disagree percy, for £15 you can get coverage upto £5m on an individual basis. my car insurance cot me £30 less than last years, I am all for us being in bmfa, as we are stronger as a group. I think the bmfa charge us plenty. on a similar point I find it very strange that non flyers, and non bmfa members are given a vote on the bmfa survey, regarding the national flying ,heritage , centre. so people who have no stake get a vote on something that may increase our fees. odd.
  18. thanks folks, would post some pictures. shall have to learn how first.
  19. there are loads of good artf trainers about, have a look at phoenix canary trainer, good price well made. get one built and join a club, will save you money being among lads who fly already, lots of good second hand gear about in clubs. learn to fly first, then build something from scratch. your first one usually has a hard life.
  20. hi folks firstly my apologies to Jamie, for butting in. i'm a novice on p.c's and messed up. anyway my names john, I fly with don valley in south yorks. been with them 10 years. flown loads of stuff as I got a bit obsessed. just finishing a global r.c su26 off with dle 30 in. also building a 1/4 scale nieuport 17 from balsa u.s.a. plan, just the cowl and struts to do. then its onto roundels etc which im not looking forward to, scale details I find difficult to do.
  21. Posted by kevin b on 13/11/2013 17:33:37: Posted by john stones 1 on 13/11/2013 16:46:52: I love artf's had loads of great ones, its not easy to find decent kits now though I'll agree. It isn't just a case of going to the LMS any more, but there are lots of them still out there. Flair, DB Models, Mick Reeves, to name but 3 and that is not including the availability of "short" kits. Many of which are produced from old kit plans. You can also get your own kit made up by several kit cutters, from your own supplied plan. kevinb. yes kevin had most of Flair scout series, built loads of D.B. never had a bad one. would buy mick reeves fw 190d but he told me he no longer do's it. have a fw 190 plan and kit upstairs cut by belair. would be good to see some more company's producing kits though.
