Been reading these threads for years, I honestly haven't a clue what some are saying or what points being made ? "It's a done deal, the powers that be decided long ago" "Politicians and money aren't to be trusted" "We must oppose by all means available" somewhat confusing is that. For me, worlds moved on, tech brought many benefits and some down side, this time it's us at the sharp end. Options ? Stick together, get best outcome we can, then deal with it.

To me the fewer our numbers, the less in the kitty for future needs, the weaker our voice, the higher our fees, the less attractive we are to insurers. All negatives for zero gain.

Anyone recall how long it took for response to the last consultation ?

I don't know that "They" are insisting on the UK going it's own way ? But we did have the chance to reply to that question in the survey, plus the BMFA gave advice on responding to it. My answer was aligning with others, reasons seem obvious, so I wont bore you with em.
