  1. I've just read the link. It would appear that Nissan are non compliant as they do not allow the sound to be temporarily disabled - at least not on the latest models. I might take this up with Nissan.
  2. Dishwasher has a timer on it. I've just made an Arduino driven board to simulate pushing the start button on my washing machine at a set time. Both being used most nights. I'll soon have 2 X 9.5kWh batteries which will be topped up overnight to supplement the solar charging. Hoping not to have to use much full price electric eventually. Regarding noise, I don't mind the simulated engine noise to alert (sight impaired / jay-walking) pedestrians. It's the reverse beeping that I find unbearable. Other manufacturers don't have it and it used to be switchable on older Leafs. Nissan have even stopped it being controllable via the OBD2 service plug for the latest couple of years.
  3. Well I managed to get myself onto Octopus Go tariff. Only snag is that I convinced myself that it was worth while leasing a Nissan Leaf to facilitate it - picked it up on Wednesday. Any one know how to stop it making that stupid embarrassing beep beep beep beep beep beep .... reversing sound? 🤬 Other than that, it seems like a great car, and at 2p per mile (night time charging at 7.5p/KWh), it's about 10% of the cost of fuelling a similar sized petrol car.
  4. I have 6x 5000 60C Turnigy Heavy Duty packs I bought in 2019. Never used. Still at Storage Voltage so should be as good as new. I decided to sell all my large electric models just after I bought these. Screen dump from my purchase history attached. Yours for £240 for the lot (That's £40 each). Located in Doncaster. Collection only due to postal restrictions. Includes a free cuppa and a chat.
  5. I often think that the likes of eBay etc should be held partially responsible (liable) for fake goods sold through their site. As it stands, they actually benefit by the 10%+ commission they earn. If fake goods are reported to eBay, at best the seller will issue a refund and carry on selling the fake goods. Now if eBay was obliged to pass any reports of fake goods onto the police / authorities, and take 10%+ of any fines / sentences, things might change. Until then, eBay buyer beware.
  6. Maybe we should adopt "Sweet Caroline" as our new National Anthem. It might go some way to improving Charles' popularity rating. I don't have a bad word to say about the Queen by the way. RIP Queen Elizabeth. I do have my doubts about Charles' ability to fill his Mother's extremely large shoes.
  7. In which case, the mono jack plug must just be for the differential pair (not power and ground).
  8. Or 1 ground and 1 data output from transmitter to simulator. 5v power and data in (to the transmitter) are not needed as the transmitter uses it's own power.
  9. What's not been mentioned is that the guy appears to actually assault the drone pilot by poking him with the sharp end of the gun just before he grabs it.
  10. Well according to their website, the pallets are their property and they say they will collect them for free. That's why I questioned the cost of transportation in their business model. THIS pick up request form talks about collecting a pallet in it's singular form.
  11. Aay, these new fangled electric motor thingies 😉
  12. I've never heard of CHEP though I have seen a few blue pallets. What a great idea, though the cost (money and environmental) of transporting the collected pallets must be affecting their business model.
  13. The (my) point is that surely a 6v servo is designed to work from a nominal 6v battery, regardless of it's make-up. If not, then neither type should be used as they can both exceed the rated servo voltage. It makes no sense to regard the servo rated voltage as an absolute maximum.
  14. That is arguably true, though a top quality alkaline cell can have a lower internal resistance than a mediocre NiMh cell. Also, the most damage to the S128 servo in question will occur when it is the only servo being moved, not when multiple servos are moving together. This is when it will be supplied with maximum voltage (and therefore current).
  15. I thought that volts were volts. I didn't realise that there were different sub-species of volt. Please explain.
  16. The imperial marks are based on standard 8 foot boards. The marks equally divide the 8 foot boards into 8 (12"), 6 (18"), 5 (19+3/16" ish) and 4 (24"). The 400mm mark is the metric equivalent based on 2400mm boards.
  17. https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsCVs003RZf8OY8VxcOfeE1dTkwlssb4Z Contact details (no website though) can be seen in the first of the videos in this playlist of a build of one of these.
  18. Not true. The current drawn by the receiver is minimal and should NOT be relied upon to drop the battery voltage. Ah Pat beat me to it. Didn't spot it on next page.
  19. It means the power supply is shared with the receiver (regardless of voltage used).
  20. You need to make 2 adjustments to get the elevators set up correctly. 1. Slacken of the CENTRE screw on the servo arm and with the transmitter and model on and responding but stick centred, turn the arm a couple of splines anti-clockwise until the arm is at 90 degrees to the control rods. 2. Slacken off the grub screw on the end of the servo arm and adjust the two elevator halves so that they are level with the tail plane. The correct way for the control surfaces to move is: Position yourself BEHIND the model Ailerons - Push the stick to the RIGHT and the RIGHT hand aileron should move UP. Push the stick to the LEFT and the LEFT hand aileron should move UP. Elevator - Push the stick away from you (UP when looking at transmitter face on) and the elevator should move DOWN. Pull the stick towards you and the elevator should move UP. i.e. the opposite to what you would expect. This makes the model behave as a joystick in a full size aeroplane would. i.e move stick right to bank right. Pull stick towards you to pitch the nose up.
  21. Much easier to see with new video 🎞️ As John Wagg says for adjusting the elevator. Ailerons ARE working the wrong way round as I thought. The aileron channel needs reversing on the Transmitter to fix this - transmitter manual should explain this. P.S. From past experience of using the forum, someone will be along pretty soon to advise you about not trying to fly it on your own. Don't take it the wrong way when they do. They are offering good advise based on their experience. New pilot have MUCH greater success rates if the get someone to teach them and set the model up. Ideally join a club. Good luck with setting up the model and eventually flying it.
