  1. I'm willing to bet my mortgage that if there were no such boxes, there would be multiple posts on here complaining that there was nowhere to put comments.....
  2. Nor I. But neither of us is learning a new skill ........... 🙂
  3. I tend to agree with leccyflyer - if toto is having orientation issues when the aircraft is the right way up and performing basic turns, having it upside down at any point seems a little too challenging! However, I do feel that doing circuits ad nauseam until they are perfect can be counter-productive. Ultimately, it's up to toto and his instructor to decide what pace is correct. Communication is key - especially agreeing goals for each session and flight.
  4. Did mine a while ago. All club members have been 'nudged to complete it. Club response has also been submitted.
  5. Maybe the police etc. can make a more compelling argument than what may well be a minor inconvenience to the minority of lawful model fliers..... I do feel it's unfair to infer you've been paying more attention than the BMFA - we have (well I have) no idea what meetings/correspondence the BMFA and CAA may have been involved in. Also, the BMFA also support our multi-rotor colleagues who may already have geo awareness/fencing and forms of remote id in their machines... I personally am neither pessimistic, nor optimistic at this point. We don't know what will happen so it's all simply speculation.
  6. I don't think it's voluntary.... I'm sure they, and other platforms, will do the bare minimum to comply.....
  7. OK it's not new...... what is new is that digital platforms now have to share some details with HMRC to help them identify individuals that are actually traders. This came into effect 1/1/2024. It seems obvious that if you buy and sell things specifically to make a profit, you should declare this to the taxman, but seemingly people don't.
  8. Double Trouble fixed Crack Yak fixed Riot 80% fixed - needs new prop shaft P47 pushes down by fixes to Valiant, Ruckus and FunnyCub, plus refurb of SE5. WR Tempest will still play havoc!
  9. Number 5. seems quite challenging.... So far my NYR has encompassed indoor flying in a hall, flying at the field, and flying in the house.
  10. The picture showed no balsa facing in the aileron cutout on the wing. So, yes, any pinned hinges would need to go through two veneers or it's just a cocktail stick into foam, which is pretty pointless. Through a balsa spar then, as Ron says no point in going right through.
  11. Winter Tuesday=indoor flying! Crack Yak Superlite, K110 heli and FunnyCub. Great fun. If you've never tried it, pop along to a session and you may get hooked. The constant use of throttle and rudder will be useful for the great outdoors too....
  12. There was an article about the new tax on the radio the other day..... seems that if you buy and sell stuff regularly on, for example, fleabay, you can be taxed on profits over £1000. If you just sell a few items you may have found in the attic, HMRC don't care - they're looking for those that specifically buy and sell for profit but don't declare the income. There were loads of people phoning in that practically had a full time job doing this to 'supplement their income' but didn't ever tell HMRC
  13. If you're going to 'pin' mylar hinges on the ailerons, I'd have thought you'd need to pierce both skins to add any strength....
  14. Jeez, so much negativity. It's extra choice so just embrace it for what it is, and realise that in all things it's 'caveat emptor'. Regarding spares, the same applies to EFlite, Ripmax (as was), FMS, Hangar9.........
  15. If you fly anything other than foam, a proper covering iron will be a revelation, and makes life so much easier........
  16. When I first worked in IT, we were second-line support for branches, and, apparently, lots of branches wouldn't call us on a Friday because they knew that Thursday night was 'party night' so we'd not be at our best.... I can neither confirm nor deny Thursday night was indeed 'party night'. This was in the 80s. Post Y2K, we were 100% professional.
  17. Bit chilly at WHMFC on NE Coast yesterday - not as cold as others found though! The field was VERY soggy though........ Got a few flights in on the Spacewalker; Phil blew the Xmas cobwebs away with his Aerostar (a remarkable plane); and 'New Kev' showed his few months layoff hasn't damaged his flying skills! His 90% inverted flights encouraging Phil to do some inverted circuits of his own. Looks good this morning so some batteries on charge. 'Old Kev' has promised to bring his old school flybar equipped ic heli along for an outing.
  18. @toto take care .... by about 14:30 I find concentration levels news to be turned up to 10 as the plane becomes just a silhouette. I'm further south than you.....
  19. Nice one. About 50% of my flying is with one other person, about 25% with more than one, and 25% of the time I am billy no mates too - especially between October and April......
  20. Yes, from May 2023. But it's per site, not per page, so it doesn't have to be like this.
  21. 4 nice days in a row on NE coast here as well. Had some nice flying Tuesday and Wednesday, dog at vets Thursday, and recovering today. Rained every night so still can't get cars anywhere near the flight line. Managed to get the Spacewalker and Saito dialled in nicely. On the days where I can't get to the field, I've been flying my little heli in the house. Seriously tempted by one of those new scale Ninjas......
  22. Annoying, but not unacceptable on something we get free. Someone should be fired? For making a mistake? Seriously? I also spent a life (35 years) in IT, and no middle managers ever got bonuses based on pushing out upgrades that weren't ready...... that would be called Underperforming........ I'm sure they'll fix it when they can.
