  1. Hi Andy, thanks for the info. although I have used Banggood I was hoping for a UK supplier as there are very long delays getting stuff from China at the moment. Would there be an equivalent from a UK supplier or even Hobbyking europe ? As I said I've not done electric before and there seems to be a huge range and the numbers mean nothing to me, I'm not even sure what voltage these things operate at ??   Edited By DaveyP on 31/03/2020 09:30:46
  2. Hi all, While on lockdown I've decided to replace the 1cc Paw diesel in my Madcap with an electric motor, but I've never done anything electric. Could you learned modellers please point me in the right direction for a suitable electric setup. The model is 43" wingspan but only weighs 16oz (455gms). Picture below, thanks. 3. I've always just used a soldering iron, on small 2mm stuff
  4. Hi Peter, glad to see you have now started, I will follow your progress with interest All the best, Davey
  5. Great looking model but registration letters normally go under the left wing........ This however may not have applied in the good old days, still think they are a bit OTT though.
  6. Hi Don, I to have the "Sticky" plan, it was from the Jan 2018 Rcme
  7. Posted by Peter Jenkins on 28/12/2018 23:44:21: Watching. I have a TF Mustang to build! I also have a Topflite Gold edition Mustang kit, but have decided to sell it. Complete and unstarted if anyone is interested £100 + p & p.
  8. I would like to know how they saw it in the dark, they're not easy to see in daylight. I also think there is something else going on here...........
  9. Well that's interesting, I set up my model on my Dx6i with whatever % throws/travel It needs. Then the Dx6E is set up to the same throws/travel......
  10. At my club they are using DX6E as the primary with my DX6i as the student wirelessly connected. I'm not sure if this works as it should, but does depend on how they are set up regarding throws etc.
  11. Hi again, and thanks for the replies, I've now measured the gap and it is 3mm, which I appreciate won't affect handling too much, But as I said it just looks wrong.... My ambition is to build scale models to a reasonable level of accuracy so I'm looking for advice on how to fix things to an agreeable standard that looks right and yes I know now I should have recessed the hinges but Ho Hum... Anyway back to this model, Ken ( the geordie ) what sticky tape would you use ? and by the way did you used to use "The Model Shop" in Blenheim st........ Bob C. does film shrinkage not cause binding etc. ? Regards, Davey
  12. Hi All, Can anyone recommend a way of filling / covering a too large gap between the trailing edge of a wing and the aileron ? I realise now that I should have recessed the hinge but I didn't and the gap just looks wrong. This is on a 4ch trainer, 60" wingspan. Tia, Davey
  13. My models use Spektrum rx's and I use 4.8v batteries, never had a problem. They will work down to 3.5v but I wouldn't send one airborne with a voltage less than 4.0v
  14. I've just ordered the motor, esc., propeller and battery for this build. This will be a first for me as I've only ever built I.C. before but liked the look of this and the video is great It's nice and compact to just put in the car and my grand kids will love it
  15. As you mean camshaft it must be a 4 stroke, so have you checked valves and valve clearances ?
  16. I've just had a text from HSBC saying my account has been suspended and to reactivate it follow their link.......... Funny that, as I have never ever had an HSBC account
  17. Agree with Nigel R, I use 311's for rudder/elevator and 225's for ailerons, but I do use Turnigy mini's for the throttle and rubber mount them on compressed fuel tube.
  18. Only at radio frequencies when the "Skin effect" comes into play
  19. Ok thanks, I'll have a look online. I thought a tacho might be useful to get the idle speed right.
  20. Slight thread drift but can I ask how you guys measure the engines rpm ? Are you using a Tacho of some kind if so what is recommended ??
  21. I bought a litre of D1000 from RCworld online, it was around £15.00 + delivery Edited By DaveyP on 14/08/2018 08:26:00
  22. Getting a bit technical now............
  23. Thanks for the replies, I wasn't sure about drilling the backplate of a spinner, but if that is standard practice that's what I'll do if needed. Just about to order a 2.5" spinner from Slec
  24. Hi all, I have an old OS max 25 in a trainer I've just finished and would like to fit a spinner, but what size would I need ? Spinner suppliers don't seem to quote the hole diameter for the shaft, any clues anyone..... Tia, Davey
