  1. Hi all , I have used the AR410 in electric models before with a good record but never in an IC plane - any issues ? Having to replace because the venerable Orange RX with satellite needs re- binding every time I fly it 4 times on the trot now . I always wrap the RX in foam anyway but wondered has anyone any issues ? . It's in an elderly Boomerang with a Saito 62 but it is one of my all time favourite airplane combination , so easy to fly even forgives dumb thumbs and clumsy moments.

Hi, We had a new club member turn up with 2 brand new DX6e transmitters and a nice Boomerang trainer complete with Irvine 52 , he had buddied up the DX6e to each other ready for a bit of supervised flying but the future plan was to fly with his grandson ( good idea). We started and tuned the Irvine and tested the controls all went the same way , all good . As it was a bit busy with one of our tame lunatic " throttle don't use them" fliers hooning around at 100mph everything was switched off for 10 minutes and when switched on again the student TX had lost its bind . Rebound everything looked OK and the flight went well but after being switched off again the student became unbound , thinking something odd we tried to bind but no joy so we swapped the TX around so the other was the master but still no joy binding them despite standing 15 feet away shielding the TX with your body ( known speccy problem) . A DX8 was pressed into master service and one the DX6e tried to bind under trainer again but "bind failed" so another DX8 was used as student and all was well . At no point did the DX6e lose bind to the aeroplane just each other in trainer mode , we have a regular flier whose uses a DX8e as master every week with no problems and finally both DX6e are up to date software versions - so anyone any ideas why ? Thanks in anticipation.
  3. Don't forget that Spectrums have an excellent wireless buddy box facility as well , rather makes a cable redundant .
  4. As I suspected pro's and hams as I am . My career started when a car telephone was a roughly 45x30x15cm box that went into your car boot and you worked it from a little control box on the dash and you called the operator to dial the number , today it sits in your shirt pocket . Just as in modelling electronics it got smaller every generation and more complex until by the time cellular came along we didn't open them anymore just sent them to a specialist workshop . We use 2.4Ghz for our models the highest I ever worked on was 1.5/1.6 Ghz analog microwave systems for the water industry in the North East , a few watts of that went a long way but they were very directional and gainy aerials .
  5. The above topic is music to my ears this is what the E in RCME is all about . I remember dabbling around in the workshop of my then employer who supplied radios that every copper in London had on him for something I could convert to 459Mhz for RC use but it was all to big . It was all a bit over engineered for RC use but beautifully made with helicoils in the front end , high spec crystals and every module shielded in tinplate and no worries about any spurious from those Danish designed lovelies . Nice to hear a proper retro radio discussion by people who understand the issues and I would hazard a guess that some of you were radio amateurs as well judging by your knowledge .
  6. Bit the bullet and re-ordered now down to £26.99 well it's better than £29.99 but not as good as the original price . Oh well living in a capitalist society its supply and demand I suppose , at least Dick Turpin wore a mask .
  7. Get your point MattyB but it's a " buy again " link so should be the same item . Search revealed nothing else at that price point . I thought it was for Amazon a good price , should have bought 2 lots .
  8. Last week wanted a couple of 3S 1300 lipos for a foamboard model and because of the demise of HK looked on Amazon and found a pair for £21.34 delivered next day and spot on just the job . This week thought maybe get another pair for other models with 1300 3S requirements so onto website and this week they are £29.99 a pair even with inflation that's a bit steep ! From under £11 to £15 each in a week , we are truly ripped off in this country at every turn .
  9. Thanks for pointers i have bought the digital edition ( already had the plan and cnc parts from SLEC at Elvington yesterday ) so can weight up what else I need . As an aside the wife uses the printer more than me for knitting patterns, shopping deliveries etc but I'm the only one who puts paper in the damn thing and it's in her workroom on her desk ???? I come to print out the article and guess what ? no paper , am i the only one , I suspect not .
  10. I think the Saito 62 and Boomerang is the perfect partnership , plenty of power but not screaming 2 stroke power and a relaxed fly . The only time a Boomerang does something out of the ordinary is if youve caused it . I would also say that having had Saito and 4S brushless versions the Saito was a better flier than the electric one , maybe a weight thing .

  12. Frank I had this a year or so ago until I googled the DX6i model and found it was DSM2 , there was a lot of head scratching until then . As far as wireless buddy boxing goes once setup our club has no had no issues at all with them despite some sceptics saying otherwise . The only issue we ever seem to have is keeping the trims on both TX the same as the trim on the Master does not automatically transfer to the slave .
  13. Thanks Denis it's a start but I need a bit more detail and there appear to be a few slight changes i.e the canopy is a different shape . If no pictures I'll just have to guess it when I get the cowl and wing back on and dry fit parts until its right .

You know how it is somethings niggling you at the field in my case the flaps on my Phase 5e would not come down the same on both sides so after faffing for 1/2 hour or so to hell with it flaps up don't bother with them sort em out later . Nice chuck from a friend and immediately something is seriously wrong , brain chips in and says elevators reversed but fingers are not responding to inputs - nice muddy earth is waiting . Folding prop motor and cowl all well buried in ground no spade so left there . On inspection everything gone to 2 inches behind where motor mount would be , various cracks in sheeting but nothing thin cyano couldnt fix . I have ordered a new cowl to get the shape at the nose but am needing some detailed pictures of the inside of battery compartment with wing on and off so I can get it right . Some bits are missing like the wing bolt section and I'm not sure what shape it is , also around the motor mount . Any pictures of the inside will do , I could order a new fuselage but no one has one in stock and the model came from a much missed flying chum so don't want to bin it . In my defence before anyone says did you not check directions before flight yes I did but was fooled by the all moving elevator and didn't notice the Radio had reversed the elevator , very odd trying to put opposite elevator in . Thanks in anticipation .

  17. Finally got to bottom of the problem . I thought because Frsky website said 1.1.1 was the latest version i believed it ( like a lemon) so off to Github and 1.1.4 is much later version which gives me the " SELF CHECK" mode in SxR . Now it reliably goes into blue light mode and allows calibration - eureka . I could not for the life of me get the switch method to work no matter how fast or slow you toggled , think its been removed from the TX. It will do me i now feel safe ( pun intended ) cheers for suggestions everyone and people who messaged me direct much appreciated .
  18. No 1-16 channels I know it won't work unless the extra channels are enabled . Also checked the throttle is at -100% and the latest firmware is on the TX and the RX and transmit module is also up to date also the switch centre crossover set 0mS . Done these loads of times with S6R and RM TX16S and never had a problem except with this pesky little blighter and the X10 Express . Tomorrow might put an S6R on the X10 Express and see what happens for an exercise .
  19. Update for anyone following apparently there is a self test button in the menus somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it . A lot of reports that people can't get the SR6 receivers to start the self test . Maybe I need an updated SR6 lua script or whatever its called in Ethos .
  20. Funny thing Graeme I put in a S6R after the SR6 ( damn confusing names) problem and that went straight in after toggling the switch so not the TX settings then . As an aside Accst D16 stabalised - S6R Access stablised -SR6 Frsky why such similar model numbers - very confusing !
  21. No Denis it doesn't after pressing the F/S , no blue light tried that.
  22. I have a Access SR6 receiver and I cannot get it into the mode where the blue light flashes and you can calibrate the sticks etc . I have set the switch middle position delay to 0ms as that's a known problem and made sure nothing is reversed on the switches but no joy , I've gone from toggling at a slow rate to toggling like a fiddlers elbow but nothing gets the blue light on . I've even tried pushing the bind button while on even that does not do it . I only have one Access TX so can't eliminate that but it's an upto date X10 Express and the receiver is the latest firmware as well . The receiver actually works OK as a stabilised receiver but I don't like missing out a step that's in the procedure . So if anyone has an idea what I've missed please speak up as I have had to fit an old S6R to keep flying ,bit of a backward step really .

  24. As discussed above I find EdgeTX perfect spot on for the TX16S .
  25. I got the dongle working by running the setup program on the disk and selecting Phoenix . Could not get the Realflight to load off the disk as my antivirus really didn't like it .
