  1. Superb work Dirk, just shows the amount of work that goes into fully moulded models. Excellent blogg. Keep up the good work. Cheers Ade
  2. Nice work Chris. I'm going to try the 'sauce' as I need to prep my Hurricane for paint. Then I need to build two sets of wings. Like your attention to detail, it certainly makes the build. Keep up the good work. cheers Ade

    Price of Kits

I think you'll find it is the exchange rate that has a lot to do with the prices. Most are priced in dollars, and people have to buy containers full of artf's well in advance. The exchange rate was very low a few months back, which could explain the difference now. So now is a good time to support your UK 'KIT' manufacturers (ie not artf foam) as they will turn out the same price as an imported foamy. And, as a bonus, you will develop the skills to repair it when you have the usual bumps and dings. All I need now is time to build Ade
  4. Look what the postman delivered from a very very nice man at Island Models. Laser cut, will be commencing build once I've sprayed the Hurricane and built two Sabre wings.

It was administered by the local authority, and to be eligible, you had to be in receipt of business rates relief. You also had to state on the application that the club had been 'adversely affected' by the pandemic. Does not being able to fly count as "adversely affected"? Seems everytime I pick up a transmitter I am adversely affected

  10. Looks great Dave, look forward to seeing it soar! Cheers Ade
  11. You can't value happiness......... and that's what aero-modellying gives me (and because swmbo may see this!) Cheers Ade
  12. Posted by McG 6969 on 21/07/2020 21:02:55: ... pics, Ade... WE WANT PICTURES... Cheers & keep safe Chris Have dropped my iphone, so waiting to get it fixed. Will take a few pics tomorrow night when I see how much of a banana I've built Cheers Ade
  13. Nice attention to detail Chris keep up the good work Cheers Ade
  14. Well........a man can Never, Ever not have enough clamps! I've finally glued one fuselage together, and was glad I had so many clamps to assist. Progress should be a little quicker from now on, as I've spent so long trying to get the air brakes to function. I may leave them off the TF86 as that one will be a little heavier due to the longer fuselage and extra pilot. We will see by the weekend whether I will risk it or not. Cheers Ade
  15. If last week is anything to go by, I could be having fried octupi rings with chips Sunday night
  16. I'll be making my Spitfire for me; it will be (I hope!) a fair representation of an actual aircraft of that era. I've read somewhere that paint was applied in theatre, so would be subject to local variations. At the end of the day, if it looks right, then that is great for me. If someone else has a problem with how many rivets I've missed, I will not lose sleep over it. I'll have more problem flying in a scale manner tbh lol Cheers Ade
  17. Not sure how my new octopus will perform; he's been out of sorts since lockdown, but I suppose if he fails, he'll make a lovely supper! Difficult to predict, Red Bull usually does well here, but unless they sandbagging first two sessions, it could be a race for the lesser places. Good luck all. Cheers Ade
  18. If you must use the carbon tubes, could you use a rod of smaller diameter with some glass paper glued around it and use as a reamer? The carbon tube I've used does sand quite easily. Ade
  19. A game's only a game when you lose........... Good luck all for the weekend. It will be very interesting to see how the teams perform. Ade
  20. must resist, must res........ 63" inch sounds very interesting! And would be worth the investment in a sound system. cheers Ade
  21. Just noticed the use of a plumb bob on fixing the fin Phil; simply yet effective way to get the correct angle. I will certainly adapt that idea. We learn something new everyday. Cheers Ade
  22. Posted by Austin Massey 1 on 17/06/2020 08:35:31: Ade, canopy arrived, looks the biz, no excuses now, thanks very much. Austin Glad to hear it got to you Austin. Look forward to seeing your F86 take shape. I've finally worked out a workable solution for the air brakes, so I can now glue the fuselage together. The TF86 will be so much easier now! Cheers Ade
  23. Andy Meade on here may be able to help you David; he's done some good 3D printed stuff.   Cheers Ade https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/printedpartsfactory   Edited By Flyer on 15/06/2020 19:11:27
