  1. My flying shot are usually much sharper. Put it down to trembling after I had just test flown it. Graham did a fantastic job flying it as it is decidedly hairy and somewhat overpowered
  2. Well a perfect afternoon and I could test Toot Sweet (see a couple of postings back). WOW!!! Very fast and extremely , very aerobatic. You really need your Pampers on. I am indebted to Graham Davies for flying it and throwing all over the sky for the camera
  3. While flying this afternoon we were visited by a Spitfire. This is not uncommon as the Duxford one comes round quite often. However whent I check the photo (almost a silhouette) I see that it has American markings.
  4. Well here is my latest model. Toot Sweet the 2nd. It is actually Yuppy Love enlarged to 29" span and powered by a 3541 1070 motor. Wing loading is 14 o.z per square ft. NOTE there will be no plans but you can enlarge Yuppy Love from Outer Zone or if you want a bigger one Sarik have my 36" span plans available. Originally .40 FS powered. The earlier models were very aerobatic. Note. The battery goes in vertically just in front of the to wing NO LEAD NEEDED TO GET THE C RIGHT. Weight 2 lbs 14 ounces, Wing area 464 sq.inches.
  5. My favourite quotation. "Those who the gods seek to destroy, first they make mad." And my favorite prayer. "OK,You have sent them mad. Now please get on with the destruction part!!"
  6. Club member Michael Morris has built my original Peggy Sue and converted it to electric . He built it from the Outer Zone plan, not an simple model to build. He loves it and his aerobatic repertoire has increased a lot since flying it
  7. It is not critical in any way. Just shape them the way that you prefer. Rounded tips would be more realistic but you oalsosee really sharply squared off tips
  8. Having witnessed the departure of a few members and the sort of passing on of unwanted gear and not having ANY family left at all my entire estate goes to the BMFA. They can sort it out!!
  9. I bought mine donkeys years ago from the USA. Lookd a little while ago but couldn't find one but I didn't search too hard.Hope you can fine a supply
  10. The best tool that I have used for leading edges and the Vee on the leading edge of control surfaces is the "Great Planes" sanding block. Two radii and a Vee shape. Unfortunately I can't find a supplier these days
  11. I don't have a drone. Been using models since the 1970s starting off with a Robot Star clockwork drive 35mm camera in a Barnstormer 72. Flew my camera plane with a Canon camera on Blue Peter in the early 1980s. Currently have a Super Scorpion with a Mobious camera.
  12. I have been buying lipos from Amazon since Hobbyking closed down. I haven't had a problem with any of them. Prices are good. You can also read reviews for all of them at the bottom of the listing. Of course you may get the odd poor review because the reviewer made a mistake but if the majority of the reviews are good it is a pretty safe bet that the odd one is one of the goofs. I have been reviewing items now for years and am also a Vine reviewer. I have reviewed some things as pretty awful.
  13. Many, many years ago some university student dismantled a car and reassembled it on top of a University building. I remember that in the papers. Probably over 60 years ago
  14. Many, many years ago I was sitting with a friend in a cafe in Harrowgate. We watched an Isseta bubble car park, close behind another car. No problem but then a convertible squeezed in behind that. When the Isetta occupants came back a few minutes later they looked at the problem, then they picked the bubble car up and moved it out into the road and then they took the spare wheel and ran three muddy tracks over the convertible and moved the bubble car away before joining us in the cafe. I leave you to imagine the faces of the convertible occupants a bit later.
  15. I did an .25 powered version for Traplet many years ago (December 96 RC Model World) Sarik don't seem to list it now, even in their unclassified plans. Possibly your best bet would be to enlarge mine or one of the others from Outer Zone plans.
  16. My father used to describe how, when the anti aircraft guns started firing at them the pilot would put the aircraft into a steep bank but not actually turn. All the guns would then start firing off in the direction of the expected turn
  17. My father was shot down by a Fokker DVII. from Von Braun's Jagstaffel. in a DH 4. Mind you as observer and rear gunner he had an official score of 6 kills. On another point. Back at the time my DVIII came out there was a chap in Ebay creating pictures combining photos etc to create works of art. He used my photo of my model in flight for one of those.
  18. I must admit that, while it flew quite reasonably it was not my favourite model. It also managed to give me a very nasty bruise through my jacket onto my fore arm.
  19. Hi. By all means use CA hinges. The ones shown are flat nylon similar in size to CA hinges but with a pin hinge across them. As for the gap. It doesn't look like anything that I drew up. I normally use a flat rear face to the spar on the wing and a simple V shape to the front of the aileron. Crude but simple and it works. These plans were redrawn by R/C Model World and they never sent me copies to proof check. It seems that the draughtsman has added his own variation to the gap. They do that sometimes. These days I submit plans as PDFs and get them back to proof by PDFs so I have them on file for future reference. I do get plans to proof from RCM&E and I admit that sometimes I miss slight changes that have been made and also I miss some alterations made to the final drawing and the occasional mistake that I have made.
  20. I am so glad that you are happy with her. You have done a great job on her and I love the colour scheme. Love the video. I always say that I only fly Peggy Sue straight and level when she is inverted.
  21. Sitting here suffering from a cough and cold reminded me of a very old story: A man goes into a chemist ans says to the assistant "I have this terrible cough. Can you give me something for it?" Now the pharmacist was out so the young assistant goes into the back, mixes up the stuff and gives it to the man who drinks it. Half an hour later the chemist comes back and asks the assistant who the man is hanging onto the street light outside. The assistant says "Well he came in with this awful cough so I mixed up some Epsom salts, Cascara, Castor oil and some senna." The chemist says that is no good for coughs!!! The assistant says "It worked...He dare not cough now!!!"
