  1. Hello Jim, Watching with interest, and keen to see how you get on. Had a 140 ‘limited’ about 18 years ago, and they are very specialised engines. Have you looked into availability of engine mounts and exhausts, before committing?
  2. Hello Andy It was a long time ago. The advert from 1978 is a good reminder. Didn’t Jim Davies models go up in smoke? My Low Jim, Balsa Gnatty, (and the biggest regret) my D&D models of Hereford EZE Fli got ‘torched’ by my Dad when I left home. The EZE Fli was really good, and now I’ve seen some of the US stuff of the time looks, like a ripped off Kaos.
  3. Hello I would also add that if the glow plug is new, is it a fake?
  4. Hello The Slim Jim was a high wing sport/trainer. The low wing sports plane was a Low Jim. I had a Low Jim and it flew well enough. It had a Profi engine ( can’t remember the size) and I never sorted the engine out, so it didn’t fly much. Mainly take off, followed by forced landing.
  5. Hello I have one of these ( Flair Stearman) in the stash, waiting to start. I was thinking a Saito triple 90cc would be nice.
  6. Hello There is a new in box precedent lowboy on eeee bay, starting at £99 plus postage.
  7. Hello I’ve probably got more kits than I’ll ever need, ( or have time to build) but still have a few that I’d like to build. If you have any of the Proctor Antics, then I’d be interested. id suggest you list the biggest items then consider best offers.
  8. Thank you. Prop guy looks like a good place to get props. I didn’t see any current JMB exhausts on there. It looks like I’m going to have to get a K&S or MTM exhaust set up. Thanks for the reply
  9. Hello, I’m trying to get a set of headers and cannisters for my ZDZ112 and have contacted JMB several times over the last few weeks without any replies. The website looks a bit old. Has anyone bought off them recently? The JMB Exhausts were meant to be the best option for reduced noise, power and ease of operation. I also like the way they get secured into the airframe with a rear support dowell. https://www.jmb-brecka.cz/en/ Regards Rod
  10. You could make one, but typing “covering iron sock” bought up them on eBay for £6.50 delivered.
  11. Easy A Toolststation glass cutter. Cheap, but complete rubbish. It wouldn’t cut pastry let alone glass. Had some poor 5000 4 s turnigy lipos from Hobbyking. Complete waste of money and useless. A very old set of Stanley Wood chisels my dad bought me about 45 years ago. Although they were from the age of British makes the best, they were made of soft cheese. I only kept them for opening and stirring paint.   Edited By David Ashby - Moderator on 05/01/2021 22:00:41
  12. Please keep the build thread running. Very keen on classic pattern. i don’t do FB either. Rod
  13. Not too long, About a year for the fuselage and rudder, then a quick pause of 15 years to do the wings and tailplane. The wings only only took about 3 nights to do once I got down to it. i just need to hinge it all now. planning to have it in the air in the Spring I’d put it off so long, as I wasn’t sure how to put a small curve in the scheme and had talked myself out of it. In the end I cut around a dinner plate! Rod
  14. Wow Those Irvine engines must be good. They must be up there with Hanno Specials. **LINK**
  15. Same seller has Bell pepper seeds. Looks like they took them out of a pepper they had for tea! Bargain.
  16. Hello I think a better reply might come from the BARCS ( gliders) Forum. However, the elevator Linkage in my minivec came off at the bellcrank. Access to the bellcrank is a nightmare. If the pushrod is detached or snapped your will need to access the bellcrank in the tail. You have two options: Cut an access hole In the tail fin/ rear fuz near the crank ( not a good idea) Gain acces from behind by moving the rudder out the way. Space will be very limited, but this is how I did it. You might have to remove part of a rudder post to get to it. The rudder will be on a live hinge, so undo the rudder clevis and hold it over as far as you dare until you get the access.  It’s a good couple of years since I did it, so can’t remember exactly.   Rod     Edited By Rod Parsons 1 on 07/08/2020 11:35:51
  17. **LINK** bargin Komet. Apparently it’s a “one off and you won’t find another like it”. I think that my be true!
  18. Wow im confused already! Its been that long time since I looked at it, and I’ve forgotten what I’ve got. In a firm believer that building and flying the planes is the hobby. Messing with radios is just nausea. I started with a FRSKY DJT module in the back of a JR Radio, so have some models on those receivers. ive got 2x V8R4 mini receivers and 2x V8R7SP that are running off the DJT module For some reason I have a V8FR-11 that is working on the internal module on D8. I tried to bind it to the external module, but didn’t have any luck. Those binding instructions for these receivers are appalling. Most models are using the X8R Receiver and are coming off the internal module. I’ve got 9x models on those receivers. So, how difficult is it to rebind the X8R receivers to access? Im assuming I can take all the receivers on the external module to a Taranis SE i have just one troublesome rx on D8. I like the Taranis because it’s like my old JR PCM9x. I thinking of going Jeti for my 3x large models, and running all the others ( foamies and mid size electric on the Taranis Rod
  19. Hello all I have an early Taranis from 2012/2013. I really struggled in the earliy days with things like boot loader and the likes. Ive sort of got the hang of programming with the help of Mike Selling's excellent F3F mixes have everything I need. Im thinking of updating to a new Taranis SE with the new gimbals. im running at 2.1.8 Dumb question- Do I have to take the new version of the sorfware. Can I just load up software from my Taranis to a new one? The Access thing just doesn’t appeal. Ive never had as much as a glitch from it, but during a recent aeriel change that did go totally to plan I’m thinking of updating as it’s 7 years old. Regards Rod
  20. Hello all, I’ve got a Hacker A50. 16L. This is on a Sebart Wind 110. The motor is a bit noisy so I’m going to change the bearings. Ive got a smaller hacker on a 30 size plane and the bearing change is a doddle. This motor is totally different inside, Ive got the circlip off and undun the 4x little Allen key headed bolts at the front. The front sort of plops off, and is held by the wires, but how do I get the motor fully apart? My objective is to check it for debris and replace all The bearings Has anyone done one of these, or have some strip and rebuild instructions? Regards Rod
  21. Lovely A Pat French Zlin Id go with one of those. I had one and crashed it due to aileron flutter. The Boden cable linkage was very poor. Today you would use a servo a side and put a 50cc engine in it! Or the PFM Firecracker. Rod
  22. I love the cover picture of that plane. Anyone remember D and D Models in Hereford? There was a kit of a D and D lightning on eBay last week. It got me thinking. They also did the eze fli and the Viper. The Viper was like a Weston Magnum. I suspect the eze fli was an American Kaos Rod
  23. **LINK** Sorry can’t get the URL from eBay at the moment. Please see total bargain pilot and canopy. I’m surprised no body has snapped it up Also, check all their other items. All equally useful and well priced.
  24. Hello How do you save a eBay link, once you’ve found these gems? I saw a pilot and canopy from a plane for £40 an eBay and thought you’d like to see it, but wasn’t sure how to save the link. Fit only for the bin. Rod
