  1. Maiden flight today of my Chiltern models Seafury, it has a new Stinger 30cc petrol engine and a load of lead up front, After reading reports that they don't fly very well I finally bit the bullet and opened the throttle, what an anti climax , it tracked straight and lifted off half way down the strip, bags of power it only needed two clicks of right aileron, after a few circuits I slowed it down for a slow pass, slight wing drop but easily picked up. Then after another circuit the engine faded and I had to come in dead stick, I managed to land on the strip with the wheels up as the outfield is very rough, no damage. As the wind was getting stronger I called it a day. I will give the engine a bit more running time before flying it again. I had some good flying with the Pacer behind it earlier on, only two of us flying today, must be a bank holiday or something, but then again most members are set in a routine of Tuesdays and Thursdays,
  2. I bought the 6mm x800x600 white diall depron look alike earlier this year. there was 8 sheets in the pack at £14 77 at B& Q Washington Co Durham. They had 6mm and 10mm I would have preferred some 3mm but it was unavailable at the time.
  3. Thanks Steve, I had to use a mouse on the lap top for better response on the right click, my fingers are as old as me.
  4. Like this.https://forums.modelflying.co.uk/index.php?/topic/51147-lightweight-glider-wings/&do=findComment&comment=929626
  5. Hi Steve, Diall is a brand name, it's on their PVA. The insulation board is not quite the same as Depron, it is more flexible. I bought some but as yet have not used it, (waiting for the dark nights build) I think it will form better than the original. I have found the link, can't find the edit box LOL
  6. It is still available from Sarik Hobbies along with the cowl and canopy.
  7. Yes please Steve, I am just an old dinosaur don't know if it will sink in.
  8. Hi EB. I don't know how to send a link but it is on Foamboard Mosquito by Jonathan S page 3 near the bottom. hope this helps
  9. I think I prefer Richards method neat and easy, and it does not take days. My foam board model wings are similar to Flite test and fly great, as they are just flown on the club field they are what they are. For all other models I take the time to bring them to a higher standard, I will try to build a foam board model to look as good as a balsa build as soon as the flying season is over and the long nights return.
  10. Hi Martin, the depron looks the same as I used on the Me 110, I have said many times it has a grain and if you bend it one way it will crack, cut the same shape out at 90% and it will form without heat. The rear panels on the 110 were cut out and formed over a brush shank and taped on over night, the previous photo you put on shows the depron formed in your fingers and it is bent round without cracking.
  11. Any of the C.A.P range from Sarik quite a few British planes there, Spitfire Auster, Tiger Moth, Hurricane, Mosquito, Gladiator etc. A real challenge to build, not for the faint hearted.
  12. It makes good sense, I confess to using the starter too much but what you are doing now is a lot better for the engine and the airframe.
  13. I don't use one and Iv'e got the scars to prove it.🙂
  14. I think France may disagree Simon, they added a few nuts and bolts. A Warbirds Replicas Spitfire is a good British balsa kit with good instructions and very good flying characteristics
  15. I currently have the Mosquito, same suit but I have built the Wellington, P38, Corsair, Stuka and profile Mosquito from the same crowd. My foam board Mosquito is a cross between an Aerotech and a Flite Test, and a Warbirds Replicas Spitfire with bits and pieces from various sources Heinz 57 springs to mind, it's also the best flyer
  16. Martin , look at Richards foam Mosquito build, a lot of foam has been removed from the crutch. Note the rear two sections are solid in the area where the tail plane and fin mount.
  17. The fog on the Tyne is spreading to LindIsfarne via Seaton Sluice 😄
  18. Howay back yem then, It's been as hot as France ower here,
  19. The club I belong to found a few years ago some members were waiting till half way through the year then re joining and paying half price. The rules were changed so that anyone joining mid term would pay full price then on renewal at the start of the new term they would get a one time reduction off the renewal fee. A yearly tag is issued to tie to the transmitter, a combination lock is used at the gate and the combination is changed every year. This works very well and I am happy to say we have a great club with friendly and helpful members
  20. Small rubber bobbins, there are some on Amazon 15mm x10mm M6 screw either side.
  21. Not new , but new to me. I was after a petrol engine and I was offered an Evolution 33cc. When I went to pick it up it was still in the aeroplane, The seller said take the plane as well no extra cost. Flew it yesterday ], great flyer a little heavy at over 17lb.
  22. Richard , you should look at Efliterays builds he has a nice 90" span Sunderland , scratch built in depron. You must have had some of our weather looking at the progress on the Mossie.
