  1. I would call it market research.
  2. I use the same system with 1/4" ply plates and nuts and washers instead of stand offs on 5mm threaded rod. Side and down thrust can then be set up as needed.
  3. A Hurricane for me and a 110 and if I life long enough, a B17 Mosquito and a Beaufighter. And an endorsement to the durability of Richards designs I badly damaged the Spitfire, my fault and the JU88 not my fault and both were repaired and flying again in a very short time.
  4. Don't know what Richard has in mind but put me down for one.
  5. Hi Paul, I have a Seagull models Chipmunk 80" span that has the same flap hinges, they are awful. i used very small tie wraps around mine to stop them spreading, I found the tie wraps slid away from the pivots in flight and one popped out so I put a drop of superglue on the tie wrap and to date they have stayed in place.
  6. Hi Ron, good progress, I like to keep it simple the tail wheel is not to prominent , mainly in side view if the plane is banked slightly the tail plane hides it. On my OD Seafury I used a 14 swg skid that is almost invisible in the air, but I fly off grass.
  7. I had 5 flights today with the Ju88, after replacing a suspect motor everything went well, landings could have been better.
  8. Actually it is together Ron, the damage was done a while back. I put the ply reinforcing on the inside of the nacelle sides to take up the gap due to not having a 3D printer. but I do have slack arse trousers , A length of 4mm screwed rod may be an alternative for the front mounting bolts as it is difficult to get to the nuts on the inside.
  9. Thanks Trevor, I have considered using a separate 6v battery for the controls it would not be a problem as the plane fly's on half throttle, the wheels don't bottom out but the legs are long and with the oleo and the wheel it must be a fair weight to pull up
  10. This was after the motors cut. It looks worse than it was, there was only a tip of the wing that was damaged and the rear of the fuselage was ok
  11. Thanks Glynn, Ron and Ady. flying it yesterday in perfect conditions and no one there to take pictures. I did have a problem with it a few weeks back when I took off and at about 30ft operated the retract switch and the motors cut. it hit the ground hard but tough as old boots it did not sustain much damage. I thought I must have caught the engine cut off by mistake but after rebuilding the front end and nacelles I took it up to a good height and operated the retracts, the motors cut again so I dropped the wheels and they restarted. I took it higher and tried again, this time the motors kept running then after 2 circuits died. I shut the throttle and opened it again and they restarted. and got the plane back onto the strip. I checked the esc's and they seemed ok but I replaced them. The trannie was checked and there was no cross functions all switches doing what they should, then on ground checks with the props off it happened again, it was on Spektrum radio so I changed the system to Futaba and have not had any more problems. It may be the rx as I have flown other models with the Spektrum without problems. Now that it has had 8 successful flights with the Futaba gear I will refit the glazed nose and bomber canopy.
  12. I could not get text on the video was taken today from a mobile phone. A really great flying machine. Thanks again Richard.
  13. No one is brave enough after your tirade of abuse at anyone finishing a Spitfire in pink or civilian livery. Surprised Glyn did not do one in pink to match his top.
  14. Unless they have been saving their energy for the big games to come I can't see them progressing much further. It's as exciting as watching snow melt
  15. Hi Simon, Sig kits produced that model in the seventy's 72" span, one of our club members built one to a very high standard, similar colour scheme to yours. Black Horse also had an ARTF of the Ryan STA but I think the cowl was wider than scale for engine cooling. Not sure of the span of the Black Horse model. You got a bargain there for £30.
  16. I've been called a lot of things Jonathan but Ron is a new one. Still better to be looking at plans and not headings.
  17. Good to see you are looking at the plan now Jonathan.
  18. Ron, I think it's what the eye wants to see, I bought the Kyosho Spitfire off someone who was giving up flying it had spent most of it's life in a loft and had never been flown. It was the early one and did not have provision for retracts. I did think of fitting them but it meant cutting through the main spar. I find you only see the silencer when in plan view and the wheels are not noticeable all the time, its great fun on an OS 46fx. One of the flyers at the field said it does not look scale with the wheels hanging down, I said it does when its landing. Many years ago before reliable? retracts I built a Pilot kit Fw190 and painted the undercarriage wire, wheels and tyres a very light grey. it looked awful on the ground but in the air against cloud the wheels were barely noticeable. I too love the twin 4 stroke sound but not when one of them goes quiet.
  19. Chris, I would think the only changes would be in the nacelles and the leccy flyers would read through the previous pages for their build. I would think hard about going IC as the cowls are only just over 4" diameter, a lot of engine sticking out (good for cooling) but unsightly plus having to move the bulkhead back quite a way and shoehorn another servo in for the throttle. I am happy to sacrifice a few mins. duration for the ease and reliability of the electric set up. I do prefer IC but not for multi engine set ups.
  20. Hi Ron, I have been using Gorilla off white glue for a while now and thought it OK . I have an old Kyosho Spitfire with fixed U/C one of the blocks on top to anchor the leg came off. I cut a hole in the top of the wing and cleaned it up then stuck it back with Gorilla PVA, I clamped it up and left it over night second landing it came off, only the glue had separated. I re glued it using original Gorilla brown glue and it has been OK since. At the rate you are going the Ju88 will be in primer by next week end.
