  1. Hi Danny, the struts on mine did not quite fit and popped out easy till I fitted the rigging wires then they were held tight. I still think they could do with a better location in the wing but it is a bit late for this. On his Bulldog they are similar but the tag is on the wing and the slot is in the strut .I can't recall having any problems apart from having to readjust them occasionally, I did check them after every flight. Cheers Eric.
  2. Actually the Defiant would be a great candidate for electric the long slim nose not needing a load of lead to balance it, a wide track undercarriage fairly easy to build wings .Would I build one no, as with a B17 some thing to fly sedately around the sky then get bored. To me people flying aircraft such as bombers and D.C.3's like pylon racers spoils the whole effect . It is very difficult to please everyone I love warbirds and have quite a few, I could be tempted with a stuka as far as I know the only one about is the ex C.A.P. version and that is plans and mouldings from Sarik. A few years ago the Pitts were very popular, never see many nowadays. Eric r.
  3. Posted by Andy Symons - BMFA on 11/05/2020 16:55:02: Posted by Eric Robson on 11/05/2020 16:14:02: one thing is certain if they don't WE WON'T BE COVERED BY INSURANCE. Eric r. Actually you are entirely wrong, the insurance cover has been valid and in place at all times, at no point was flying a model aircraft unlawful so it was covered. Hi Andy, I thought the Bmfa advice was not to go flying so by that statement our club closed the field along with other considerations. Before the announcement from the Bmfa that we could fly I was informed by the secretary that until the Bmfa gave us the go we were not insured. Sorry I was misinformed.
  4. Thanks Martian, last two pictures actually but the other wing is all finished bar the roundels etc. How is your Rigging getting on or have you been busy with the hover things? I was looking at your build and see you printed your own decals very smart!. I tried that once, the paper I had was transparent so I painted the white and put the red and blue over it . It was a hand launch job no u/c and when it landed on wet grass the ink ran . I now paint them on not very well generally.
  5. I must add the top of the wing has not been covered yet, so it was not to bad to rectify.
  6. As one who is missing flying. Last year I lost my wife she had suffered from COPD and struggled to breath I had to give up flying a few years ago as I was her full time carer. Where I fly is less than a mile from home and most times there are only 3 at the most at one time in the day. There are 3 days when the majority turn up so in my case there is little chance of infecting anyone or being infected as it is well away from populated areas. My health has improved from taking up flying again after being stuck in the house most of the time , Having to do my own shopping is more risky than going to the field, but I have stayed away and will continue to do so until the BMFA ok's it as one thing is certain if they don't WE WON'T BE COVERED BY INSURANCE. 7. Hi all, spent Sunday working on the top wing and cabane fittings. made the capping for the struts and bound them with silver Oratex.. Guess what forgot to feed the aileron wire down the strut.
  8. Well wirth the effort to make the front side panels as one piece instead of the separate cowl. Lovely work Danny. Eric.
  9. Acrilic primer as it is going to be electric, fingers crossed. Fillets not up to your standard Danny, Tony has contacted me about the dash, thank you.
  10. Put a rattle can spray of aluminium on today. shows up the rivets and mistakes.

  12. Stick at it Tony, I put lithoplate on mine and did not like it so I stripped it off and still not 100% happy but as it is only going to be a club field flyer once in the air it will look the part. When I get to fly again that is another matter.
  13. Posted by Martian on 08/05/2020 09:57:27: Hello Tony I hope you are well , it's crazy all this lockdown time and it's really hard to get going on anything sometimes spend to much time just looking and not doing Me too,
  14. Hi all, after removing the lithoplate from the side. I have been trying a different approach, back to my days of Keil Kraft modelling using card for the sides. I would like to say I have counted the rivets and accurately measured the distance apart but I have not. I looked a photos and guessed as with the dzus fasteners. These were made with a hole punch with two sizes of end. I put the punch in my small milling machine ,clamped the card on a piece of thick plastic and brought the punch down small hole first then the large one, Still working on the holes for the exhaust.

  16. Hi Danny, I would go ahead and paint it like a Nimrod as the more I look at photos and compare the details the less true scale the D Bryant Fury becomes. However there is no mistaking what it is and in the air it definitely looks good. I have been thinking of painting mine in a camouflage scheme if I can't get the silver to look right. Your tempting me with the Nimrod finish as it is very attractive. That dash is very good, are they available or is it a one off? Cheers Eric.
  17. Hi Danny, those fairings look good reminded me I have to do mine. Slow progress at the moment enjoying the sunshine and gardening. I will have to try glassing some time, your tutorial made it look not too difficult. I imagined mine would be an expensive gooey mess so I have avoided it . Cheers Eric.
  18. Just neds a bit of work on the wing seat and a glow plug. The ad does say in excellent working condition?
  19. Hi Danny, my lower wing which is one piece is covered with Oratex weighs 294g. As it won't be painted the only extra weight will be the roundels and numbers. As the centre section is sheeted and has more ply I think it will probably work out the same as yours. Cheers Eric.
  20. Hi Jose. I used silver Oratex for the first time and found it very easy to apply.
