  1. Great, perhaps the local toilet paper finishing plant that was recently closed down will reopen !?
  2. There is a chap on eBay that makes spray bars and needles, I got one for a DC sabre, may be with a try for your needs...
  3. Try that with the powers that be, you have reported the "prang" I assume, as I think we have to these days ? Just saying ...no malice...
  4. Also, how about a "How I pranged my plane" thread to try and identify common/reoccurring problems, failures etc. . Much quicker than a CAA etc. feedback...? Come the day, a lot of "out of practise" flights taking place, including me !
  5. Well done slec, ordered Monday, arrived just now, nice big cardboard box, I feel some cardboard c/l wings to experiment with coming on.
  6. So you were flying some else's model or servo's were reversed ? Message to everyone, we are all out of practise ( about 22 years for me !) and need to step back just before take off and mentally "do the check list again !". Would that be fair, and a good idea ? Or is that a completely unneeded bag of sweets. About 26 years ago at the club field, I witnessed a take off of a super sixty type model. I noticed the aerial was not extended at all. I didn't have time to tell him before he was in trouble but the plane landed. What was comical was that the particular sheep on the field ran towards the now stationery plane and was seen to "dance" all over it ! The plane survived the mistake but not that sheep.
  7. So we are not able to learn from your misfortune.... What conclusion can we make, battery problem, black wire corrosion, radio failure other than just mentioned, structural failure or just plain and simple out of practise ? Maybe this is why CAA etc. would like some sort of report as to reasons why, commonality, safety feedback ? I refuse to believe it would be a lack of common sense as that is so difficult to quantify ? Vosa have a recall reporting procedure for a reason, may be CAA etc. want/would like a similar process for the benefit of the flying community. We all make mistakes. An explanation/verdict as to why the plane was pranged would possibly highligt a problem no one has experienced before. This can only help the flying community I feel. You have already done the right thing in admitting it was your fault in pranging the plane, no damage done other than to the plane, so why not inform the community here so that your mistake is provented by anyone else, hopefully. As said we all make mistakes, but it is a mistake not to say what mistake was made I feel, so we can all learn from it. It could be called progress. I bet you won't make the same mistake again, lesson learnt. I am dreading my first flight but will feel better after flight 13!
  8. Perhaps a new thread " how I pranged my plane..." Would be an idea, so we don't make the same mistake ? How did you prang it ? Out of practise ? I know I am and consider myself a tyro again...starting at square one...
  9. Yes I have tried that and it always wanted to go forward and to the left. I will wait until April, having made a helicopter pad with adjustable feet and two small spirit levels to adjust the pad so it is as level as I can get it, to rule that problem out as best I can. I suspect it's still going to go forward and left but we shall see. Some say be brave in take off to get out of the air reciculation/ground effect area. Looking forward to the outing to the football field on a warm flat calm day.
  10. Did it fly ok straight out of the box after charging the battery, on its oe tx, before you "tuned" it to your "personal" tx ? Mine didn't, it took off shooting to the left and up and bouncing off the ceiling. I followed the instructions to the letter and the helo was " gyro stabilised" on the floor. I have trimmed the helo with tethered flights, needing about 15 bleeps right and about 10 bleep back, for a reasonably stable hover. I have left it alone patiently waiting for unlockdown and April, then on a flat calm day, I am off the the football field which should be big enough, just. All the legal stuff is in place... I will report back after an outside flight, which hopefully will be successfully. Stay safe out there...

You have a lot of research to do, lots of research. If you live in a hilly area or on the coast, watch what the birds do. If you see then "soaring" or hanging in the air or traveling along a ridge, is it a bird or an RC slope soarer ? Look at beginners threads on here and look on Bmfa website, as new "LAWS" came into effect in Jan this year. If there is a club near you, soarers and/or powered, find out if you can visit and watch, but remember Covid ! A glider, either electric powered to get to hight ( how high are you allowed ? ) and/or slope soarer 2 channel, as 2 controls is enough at the begining, out is the fresh air, silence and the fuel ( s westerly winds ) is free ! So, research research research. Your training starts now by saying out load " when the aircraft is coming towards me, for straight and level flight, prop the dipping wing with the stick " After a week you will "think it" and after a few flights it will be "instinctive" which it needs to be ! You will know why after some practical flying research. The other research is legal stuff and which model, NOT a spitfire, thats at least 3 years away. Sonata or similar....
  13. Thanks Nigel. Plan a bit fuzzy but enough info I think. The DC bantam has a radial tank so maybe a profile fuz first for trials, then the proper fuz with a period engine. I made one of these 55 years ago !
  14. I now have 4 Cox 049's and a DC bantam, thanks David. So the Cox fledgling wing/ balsa fuz c/l project can proceed, flying Cox wing on Cox engine power. The 2 extra Cox will go into a powered glider or kk FF r/p c/l up scaled a bit. May even double scale kk FF rp Lysander to RC.... I am trying to find kk joker plans or similar for the bantam. Thanks again David, well pleased both of us.
  15. If you email Bmfa admin I am sure they can sort out any problem you may have. They keep records and can look up data etc.. Give them time to sort out problems as I know they will be busy boys and girls. They have been really good with my particular problems and have sorted everything asked, emailing pdf's etc. so I can get them printed off when the public libraries open again. I was a member and "rejoined" in late December after a good 20 years break. Thanks Bmfa ! Stay safe out there and remember safe flying is no accident ! Can't quite remember but that slogan may be a map one ?
  16. Thanks BMFA, great service ! Just waiting for libraries to open so can print off pdf's etc for my home records and "flying file" which I will take with me when I venture out, all legal like. If challenged and you have the paperwork with you, then there is no doubt/problem, they can be produced there and then. I will also print out article 16, bits of the ANO and the Bmfa blue quick guide etc. for my flying file. Just waiting for my fliers number...and April 10th, my "guilt free right of passage" or "release date, suub's ".
  17. The back drop to your pictures look familiar, are you near to a narrow gauge railway and viaduct ? Over....
  18. Ok, as stated by Andy yesterday, the Bmfa gomembership data about me has/was updated/ corrected overnight. Thanks BMFA, great work by busy people doing stuff on our behalf. Thanks. Stay safe out there...
  19. No idea why this post above has been repeated, admin you can remove above post if you want.
  20. It's not the CAA op I'd number that's an issue, it's the expiry date that is incorrect, on the Bmfa site... Email from CAA arrived this morning, the first email from the CAA to me, ever. On the Bmfa site, the bit that says when your membership expires, below that box another box appears about CAA op I'd. I paid my CAA subs yesterday via Bmfa admin, thanks Bmfa, brilliant service. I had 2 confirmation emails, and got the CAA number this morning. I checked with gomembership and eventually saw the 2 boxes mentioned. The CAA box said that the I'd number expires in 3 months time ? Work that one out. No worries as I will not be going flying for a while so time to sort this mistake out.
  21. Thanks Andy, I am not moaning or anything as I know you guys and girls are probably rushed off your feet. A very poor internet signal does not help either, thinking really hard about pidgeons... Stay safe out there.

  23. Just passed the Bmfa RCC test and got the certificate in my internet phone, even though I didn't have to due to A (fw) and A ( sfs), but hay ho. Next hurdle is trying to get it into my records on Bmfa site. I need help from Tom cruise ! Anyways will contact admin later so this and incorrect CAA op I'd expiry date can be corrected. I cannot find records of the 2 A tests mentioned either, but they are mentioned on the corrected Bmfa insurance certificate pdf, and I have the original certificates. They must be very busy over in leicester. Computers, don't you just love them, I am dreading trying to set up a computer tx/Rx, what fun I am going to have...good job I'm solar powered these days...
  24. I'm am unable at the moment to print off a hard copy of my "correct" insurance certificate, so have requested an up dated and correct certificate, with my correct member number on it, so there is no confusion if asked to produce a Bmfa certificate of insurance. CAA op I'd is not quoted on a Bmfa insurance certificate. Nor is a flyiers I'd number as far as I know. I do not need a fliers I'd number as a hold A test status for fixed wing if powered model and A test status for fixed wing slope soarer, as mentioned on the Bmfa insurance certificate. So, CAA number on planes and a correct and relevant Bmfa insurance certificate, and I have clicked the box about understanding the article 16 rules and regs, means I am legal to fly in those classes, as long as the flying site is legal etc. Etc.etc. I will check about the ninja250 and the powered glider to be on the safe and legal side of things etc. I will not be going flying yet anyway, I will wait until April 10th at least, all being well and covid allowed. Safe flying is no accident, legal flying is being all legal. Stay safe out there, still be patient, don't become one.
