  1. Awesome! First of my bits should arrive today/tomorrow, it's all a bit over my head but my son and I have taken it on together, should be a fun thing for me to learn. Thanks very much to FlyinFinn and Dave windymiller for sharing your work!
  2. Fantastic, appreciate the advice. Mine has two 3s 2200s up front and balances around 90mm from F2, total weight is only just over 4lbs so didn't know whether to leave as is for the maiden or add weight up front.
  3. What was the general consensus on C of G for these models, I remember seeing some discussion around it but can't find it now..so may related threads! Thanks
  4. Ah, I was getting the same message so I'll try that, thanks for the heads up.
  5. Thanks all, I've utilised (stolen, plagerised, ripped off or whatever you want to call it) lots of ideas from the many that have shared thier build, not least of all Ron for his videos but LM and many others have been a great help.
  6. Not sure why but the wings now look like a pair of nora batties tights, been OK up until now and looks OK in the picture but lots of bubbles now?
  7. Hmm, it's now on my list of things to do!
  8. Having not documented the build elswhere I thought I'd share my efforts here, was hoping to maiden today but alas, was not to be..
  9. Thanks, I need to sit down and study things a bit!
  10. That's brilliant, thank you. I've been looking at the 'speedflea' for some time but I also have an inquisitive mind so would much prefer to learn something by putting it together myself, I do have some experience but certainly not enough to start from scratch!
  11. Sorry, I should have been MUCH clearer! I did mean just sited within the model and simply being able to see at a glance when the model is back on the ground the max speed/alt achieved. Similar to Dave windymillars post 23rd March. I say 'did' as speaking with my (much brighter than I) son last night about the Xiao he mentioned the 'possibility' of a 'ground station' readout he'd like to explore. Just to clarify, I certainly wasn't asking you to rewrite code etc, just confirm if it was 'do-able'
  12. What an interesting project, not that I need anything else to think about right now but I'd like to give this a go. @FlyinFlynn what would be the requirement to have an lcd readout of 'live' max alt/max speed? Thanks
  13. I wonder if the talk of the next model in the series has folks thinking about skipping the Tempest, just a thought?
  14. Sensibly sized magnets shouldn't interfere with radio signals but may affect any onboard sensors that some setups have
  15. It's a cheap DJI knockoff from the likes of Aliexpress, I think pulling the battery was a wise move! You could always check or post here https://dronesreunited.uk/
  16. 2x3s or 4s max for me With or without retracts/flaps any of the 'cats would suit me Simple, crutch and foam wing type build Like LM above, even though a mozzie isn't 'up there' for me I would probably go for just to add diversity Nothing too big or a pain to disassemble/reassemble as somebody didn't check for folding seats when buying a saloon.......
  17. Having an open mind on the whole subject of drones and personal flight vehicles clearly puts me in the minority on here! Lots of naysayers and general hatred to ANYTHING 'drone' related from most people involved in other aspects of the hobby of RC Flight...perhaps they feel they are to blame for the increase in regulation etc
  18. Sorry Ron, I must be looking for the wrong thig, do you have a link?
  19. Apologies, I meant between the final coat of PVA, floor varnish or finishing resin.
  20. Useful video, thanks. Which of the three finishes would you chooses if you had access to all and which would you choose if you had none of them already?
  21. RW beat me to it but yes, it's a big thread so I understand your plea!.... If you also keep an eye on this thread I believe Ron will soon be doing a bit of a tutorial on the subject as he builds the now infamous WR FW190 the way it was designed.
  22. On the right model it can be a cheaper, easier to apply finish than film. It can be painted with standard emulsion type paints. If you look that the 'The big question' thread there's a fair bit of info on there.
